You know... nostalgia filter says I still love this film, and forgive the plotholes.
6/12/2012 2:17:38 AM
Well, I didn't see this film as a kid, so I guess I'm a little less forgiving...
7/9/2012 12:38:36 AM
Might depend on how much you went to the library as a kid. Because this film was always there, unrented. I see why. O.o
7/9/2012 3:00:11 AM
I always rented Universal Monster movies at he library. :-)
4/7/2012 8:29:31 PM
Mendo, you're a mad genius. XD
4/7/2012 9:30:14 PM
Oh, I wish I could say that was true...so I will!
4/8/2012 6:36:22 PM
I say that mostly because of the "menstrual cycle" analogy. Because it's so outlandish and most likely wrong, but at the same time it makes so much sense.
4/8/2012 6:58:20 PM
While I can't take credit for that particular urban legend (that was the big joke in middle school) I do seem to be the only person I've met as an adult who's ever heard it, so I had to keep it alive. The Unicorn looking like a tampon part was all me, though! ;-)
4/6/2012 9:22:37 PM
Gee, thanks Mendo. I had never even heard of A Serbian Film before this review. Now, after looking it up, I have to go scoop out my brain
4/6/2012 11:11:02 PM
I aim to please...
4/5/2012 5:38:43 AM
Even though I think the storyline sucks, I still love the animation style. Why didn't the unicorns just kill red bull from the get go? He was outnumbered a million to one.
4/4/2012 4:52:55 AM
According to Wiki, the company that animated The Last Unicorn, was later hired by Hayao Miyazaki.
4/4/2012 8:39:42 AM
Really? Huh, learn something new every day...
4/5/2012 5:35:36 AM
They also did The Hobbit animated film. I could be wrong, but I think the hardcore Tolkien fans hate it.
4/5/2012 10:32:51 AM
Really? I enjoyed that film a great deal. No accounting for taste, I guess...
4/3/2012 9:18:10 PM
I know this has got nothing to do with the review but:(19:33) Awww! He's got a KITTY! :-)))))
12/15/2012 7:03:29 AM
I still miss that cat...
4/3/2012 5:56:45 PM
Okay, you guys had me laughing tears @ 9:10. I honestly can't go on any further. Kudos to The Omega and Mendo for another great review. And if I didnt make it to any other surprise guests, blame them!
4/3/2012 9:52:28 PM
Shame, because right after you stopped was my favorite gag. Maybe after you've calmed down you can try again!
4/3/2012 4:53:37 AM
zardoz next? zardoz next? please please please please please!
4/2/2012 10:28:23 PM
Wow, Mia Farrow is a dead ringer for the stepsisters in Cinderella! I'm apparently too young to have seen this movie, as I've never even heard of it, but after hearing the singing... I can't say that upsets me.Awesome video, as always.
4/2/2012 11:01:08 PM
This is one of those films that's betrayed more by its legacy than anything else...
4/3/2012 1:27:20 AM
I'm not. I saw this first run in a single theater (one movie house, one screen). This means that I am so old that most of your parents were still in grade school seriously playing with toys and it would be decades before any of you were so much as a zygote! I watched this with the girlfriend at the time who, because of this movie, believed she was actually a unicorn and by damned, I'd better believe it too! I can't watch the thing now without cringing. The bad association is permanent I'm afraid. Evidently Rankin and Bass were among the many who did not realize the 1970's had been shot dead by the Sex Pistols in 1977 and the era of Chartruse and Purple was over!
4/2/2012 10:10:11 PM
The best thing about this film? That last bit at the sea might have inspired this excellent Guinness advert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zff9hVH3ptY
4/2/2012 10:30:05 PM
There is simply no way that is not true!
3/31/2012 2:37:13 PM
I think you should have made your review shorter and more focused. You try to picture things as ridiculous that aren't. According to http://www.cubbi.org/tlu/texts/tluscript.txt, the butterfly-exposition explains that Unicorns are " Visible only to those who search and trust, and generally mistaken for a white mare." All characters who can see her for what she is do trust in the existence of magic in general and unicorns in particular - shmendrick does, so do molly and mommy fortuna. The part about land pirates was funny, but superfluous. I think the rank of captain does and did exist, and doesn't only refer to seafaring persons...Just two examples. I have more, but since I overall enjoyed your review, I'll stop here.
3/30/2012 4:55:57 AM
I think the part of Molly becoming upset when seeing the unicorn was because it arrived too late. See, from what I understood Molly was a naive young girl who saw romanticism in running away with a dangerous man and living her life in the forest with him. That probably turned out to be the biggest mistake of her life as she clearly was miserable. The unicorn is supposed to bring happiness and fortune or something to those who see it and since she saw the unicorn after a good chunk of her life passed and long given up hope, it's understandable why she'd react the way she did. IDK... those are my two cents and I could be wrong.

Dude, Michael! Why didn't you warn me that lip-gloss joke was a close up. Seriously though, cudos for your courage in acting all girly and giddy, it was indeed amusing to watch.Nice review you two.
3/29/2012 3:56:07 PM
Hey, if a leatherbear can't queen out every now and then, who can? ;-)
3/30/2012 5:34:28 AM
Lol! It actually made me cringe! ;)
4/3/2012 6:01:14 PM
But was it Berry lip gloss? *Rimshot*
4/3/2012 9:49:08 PM
Actually, yes!
3/29/2012 9:54:12 AM
I can honestly say that Giovanni singing me that little lullaby gets me every time.*squee*
3/29/2012 8:30:12 AM
On behalf of Boothers everywhere...Thank you for doing this review with pants on.
3/29/2012 7:52:38 AM
Mmmmm... Christopher Lee. I'd go gay for him.Something that annoyed me was the character design, at least as far as the bodies went. The faces looked ok, but something about the ultra skinny bodies irked me.Also whoever did the title card should never be allowed to touch a pen and paper again.
3/29/2012 9:52:59 AM
What really bugged me was that the horse couldn't sit still for five seconds.Really? I was thinking we'd keep the title-card guy around and pay him some more! ;-)
