VIDEO: The Devil's Rain (1975)

We’re sorry...

This video is no longer available due to the shutdown of Blip.tv.

It’s William Shatner, Ernest Borgnine, Tom Skerritt, and John Travolta in a dark, satanic movie with an ending that you have to see to believe.

At 4:10, it can’t be but that looks like Adam Sandler with devil horns,

come to think of it, that would explain some things.

    • Cameron Vale

Adam’s brief but amusing scene in Dirty Work.

Dirty Work is a very underappreciated comedy

    • Cecil_Trachenburg

Yep, I snuck that in there 🙂

They probably wanted a strong effects gimmick in the movie for box-office reasons, like Planet Of The Apes with its monkey getups or T2 with its CGI T-1000, and the melting was the best thing they could come up with.

    • Cecil_Trachenburg

Most likely. They really pushed it at the end. While I do like the film, they could have trimmed out some of the melting, it does get a little too much.

After this I want to see you review the devil rides out to be honest

    • Cecil_Trachenburg

Wow, Christopher Lee…haven’t seen that one in ages.

I freaking love this movie. Its crappiness actually makes it better.

    • Cecil_Trachenburg

      It hits that magical middleground

Someone in the forums used to have a still from this movie as their avatar!

    • FEnM

Oh, yeah! It was Borgnine in goat form, right?

    • Cecil_Trachenburg

      lol really? That’s great!

Oliver Wendall Douglas will destroy the devil’s rain!

Very appropriate Torgo theme! Or Torgeaux theme?

    • Cecil_Trachenburg

Farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmmmm livin is the life for me!

I’ve been very looking for something to put the Torgo theme over. I’m actually looking forward to the special edition Manos that was just announced.

Oh God, I’m listening to this with headphones. I…it felt like Ernest Borgnine was whispering something lewd in my ear. Ewwww…… (I’ve actually met him IRL, so that just makes it all the more visceral).

This is an amazing cast for a B-movie. Shatner, Borgnine, Skerritt. And Eddie Albert. Oklahoma, Roman Holiday, Green Acres? Anything? Is an old movie automatically good if it has a great cast? Today’s movies aren’t automatically great if they have a great cast. Bias? Or reality?

    • Cecil_Trachenburg

      hahahahahah!

I think the problem is a lot of today’s movies with a great cast can’t compare to the casts from older movies. When you consider that now Channing Tatum is an A lister? Yeah, I’ll stick with the past.

  • Thomas Stockel

Wow, Ernst’s make up/prosthetic job is awesome! I can’t recognize him.

  • So this whole movie was based on a pun? This seems like it would be a common enough occurrence for film distributors… Common enough for you to do a theme month about perhaps?

    Fictional example:
“Bearing the Load” a werebear, Ben trying to run a moving business in Montanan when he has to clash with Bigfoot who is a lunatic from Ben’s past… Big foot has let himself become the beast and wants to prey on Ben’s town. Gentle Ben must find it in himself to save those around him, and somehow keep his true nature secret, for fear that they would destroy him if they knew.
