  • Scrubs is one of my all time favorite comedies. Even in the final season, I enjoy watching the one returning intern (and of course Perry). It’s not a great season by any stretch of the imagination, but I still find it more fun than most shows.

Is… is that Donald Tyson’s Necronomicon: The Wanderings of Alhazred sitting there all blurry in the foreground?

Oh, and Janitor was fun, too. JD was… the kind of guy you just wanted to smack and yell at to grow the fuck up.

My brother was a huge fan of this show but I always hated the hell out of it. Everyone was so cute and clever. Doctor Cox was the only tolerable one and I think that was due to his being a rabid Red Wings fan.

The first four seasons were brilliant television, even if there was a steady, and very linear, downward trend starting from the show’s peak: Season 1’s Bed Banter and Beyond. It completely fell apart in Season Five, though it had the courtesy to admit that with the Kim pregnancy (a pregnancy subplot being one of the most common indicators of shark-jumpery). And yeah, the increasing focus on slapstick was the most noticeable difference between the later seasons and the almost documentary-like first season. They ran out of things to say about life in medicine and reverted to sight gags and fanservice. It stopped being special and just became another sitcom.

Though McGinley’s Cox was indeed a brilliant character, and the show’s standout, he wasn’t the only thing the show had going for it. The writing was fantastic early on, astonishing for network television. I don’t know how you could hate the whole cast throughout the good years.

  • I love scrubs and own all 8 seasons of the show proper. Hell, I recently re-watched them all and they still put me in the great mood they did when they first aired. Not sure why I’m posting this, to be honest, other than to make sure a love of the show is represented amongst all the dislike. =)
