Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer: Wow So Villains, Such ‘Splodey
Here’s this new trailer for the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which looks completely unlike any other action movie trailer ever made, because it has a brief shot of an ad for the movie’s Tumblr in the background of one sequence:
It also includes epic lines that we have never heard in comic book movie trailers before, like “The more people I try to save, the more enemies I make” and “I have a responsibility to protect the world from what I know they’re capable of” and “We…literally…can change the world!” and “I made a choice. This is my path.” So it really looks like a completely fresh take on the whole genre, don’t you think? What I’m getting at is that maybe this character is getting a little long in the spinnerets.
There is a great deal of excited nerding-out among the Marvel Nerd Community over the large number of villains being ladled into this second installment of the rebooted movie franchise for a comic that, like me, has been around since 1962 (But have I even gotten a single reboot? No justice.) There are a whole bunch of baddies in here, and it’s not yet clear who the Big Bad will be — Electro? Peter Parker’s traitorous friend Harry Osborn, aka the Green Goblin? Rhino? There’s even a brief background shot of Doc Ock’s multi-arm apparatus, though there’s no other suggestion that he’ll show up. In any case, it sure looks noisy, and we bet the world will get saved, though only at the cost of several million dollars in CGI damage to New York.
Wake me when Marvel makes a movie about Squirrel Girl. That, I’ll watch.
