Walking Dead actress goes undercover in real life to rescue child sex workers
Do you like The Walking Dead? Do you hate child sex traffickers? Then have we got a story for you!
From ABC’s Nightline, which is apparently still a thing, comes a report on a former CIA agent named Tim Ballard who knows a thing or two about underage prostitutes in Latin America. Wait, that didn’t come out right. Ballard is the good guy here. He organized a private group called Operation Underground Railroad to rescue the children and bust the sex traffickers.
“I spent 12 years as a special agent, undercover operative for the United States government, doing this, and learned how to do it,” Ballard said. “The problem was that the vast majority of the kids that we would identify, we couldn’t save. They weren’t U.S. cases.”
Recently, Ballard and team worked with authorities in Colombia to set up a sting. A highly dangerous mission. Would you have the balls to volunteer? Check out who did:
Ballard’s team features a ragtag group of volunteers, some off-the-books operatives and one former Navy SEAL, but many just regular civilians. There are two CrossFit instructors from Utah, a door-to-door salesman, and even Hollywood actress Laurie Holden, who starred in “The Walking Dead.”
Andrea, is that you? Wow, yes it is. And she was deeply involved on-the-ground during the sting, which took place at a fake bachelor’s party. Holden’s job was to keep up the ruse and keep the young prostitutes occupied while Ballard negotiated a price. The negotiations were recorded by secret cameras, of course, and police rushed in to make the arrest as soon as everything they needed had been caught on tape.
Damn. HNTP salutes you!
