We then cut back to the Gladiatrix Academy for Girls, where several recruits are running through a device that can only be described as the New York City Subway Turnstile of Death. One woman gets slashed on the arm with a spear sticking out of the turnstile, so she stumbles over to a rock where she plops down next to a seated Tamarr.

Tamarr quietly tells the Speared Chick that she’s had no luck finding out about her brother Ernie. Speared Chick, who looks a lot like Pat Benatar here, reassures her that the Naylians don’t kill kids, regardless of gender. Instead, “they’re raised to be slaves in the service of women!” Oh, that’s much better.

Only the fiercest warriors can take on… the Turnstile of Death!

We can see behind the two women as they speak, and making this scene infinitely more entertaining is how there are several Gladiatrices back there taking turns banging their swords against a log. Well, this should improve their performance in the Arena, provided their opponents are made out of wood and stand really, really still.
