The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) (part 4 of 5)

Now we get the sort of scene that’s a goldmine for people that write these kinds of recaps. Idiocies follow upon other idiocies so fast that they need to be watched several times to get them all down. First, we learn here that neither team has a spare communications system or arranged for an automatic pickup if their equipment stops working. Then Nick claims that Peter’s team came to “strip mine the place” and I have no idea what he means.

Then Ian chides Peter for thinking his team could defend themselves against the dinosaurs when all the defenses set up on Jurassic Park weren’t enough. Actually, the hunters were doing just fine until you guys came along and screwed them up. Dieter continues the sadistic idiot bit by picking a fight with Nick. Roland pegs Nick as the saboteur that freed the dinosaurs, and all Nick can counter with is “We’re environmentalists!” (By the way, for a nice examination of this kind of thinking, check out the Tom Clancy book Rainbow Six.)
