What confused me for years was why Simba thought that Mufasa’s death was his fault.

Like, the mechanics of it- I really had trouble seeing what Simba was supposed to have done that got Mufasa killed, even if Scar had nothing to do with it and Mufasa had just slipped as Simba presumably thought. I was probably in my late teens or even early twenties before I realized Simba thought his roar set off the stampede.

There was something else in the movie that baffled me like that, but can’t remember what is right now.

Oh well- excellent review, and your mother is a monster. Make her buy you BatB on Blu-Ray.

I used to think that Lion King was unique for being credited as the first animated Disney feature film that wasn’t based on an already existing property. Then shortly after reading that I read that it’s really a Disney version of Hamlet. Interesting theory.

It’s Hamlet with bits of MacBeth, Richard III and maybe one or two others thrown in. The sequel is Romeo and Juliet.

It did borrow from kimba the white lion.
