Starflight One (1982) (part 9 of 11)

There’s stock footage of the Space Shuttle landing. Cut to a completely unrelated shot of Josh walking across a runway and meeting up with his wife. There’s a tender reunion that makes me think Hal Linden is going to count his money and get out of this movie while he still can. Instead, the two hop into a van and drive off, and curiously, we don’t see the Space Shuttle, or press corps, or spectators anywhere in this shot.

To waste some time, there’s a bit in Starflight’s cockpit where they realize all the air will run out before they re-enter the atmosphere. Down in the bustle of Ground Control, we see Josh is already there. He now has his tie loosened and his head propped on his fist, the classic pose of the Beleaguered Guilt-Ridden Scientist with the Weight of the World on His Shoulders. Also, to match his new lot in life, he’s suddenly grown a five o’clock shadow.
