I once saw this film; long ago in the age of VHS rentals and ugly top loading VCRs, an age of hairspray and new wave music, in the long lost age of high fantasy known simply as the 80’s. I was 17 and I saw this hmmm movie I guess on the shelf of our local video story and decided to give it a shot. I wasn’t amused, although it did set into motion my idea for a “bad movie night” which my small group of friends still do semi-weekly to this day. So I guess one good thing came of Slaughter High.

I’m eagerly awaiting your reviews of the Friday series, I absolutely love those movies! I’ll be watching your backlog until then, I only discovered you tonight so I need to see if your sense of humor gels with me.

Glad to hear that you liked the episode, and I’m always happy to have a new fan!
Go ahead and let me know what you think of my older episodes, I’m always happy for feedback.

      • Jessica Kent

Awesome stuff from what I’ve seen so far and you picked literally the best possible theme song for your subject matter. The Talking Heads, amazing!

        • fearfanforever

Thanks! After seeing Behind the Mask, the choice was obvious. 🙂
Glad you like the show, and I can’t wait to see what everyone thinks of the next episode.

“let me know what you think of my older episodes,”

See, I always feel weird replying to really old vids (or threads or whatever the forum involves). For one thing, I wonder if the person it even still reading the replies.

        • Jessica Kent

Same! I always thought I was weird… well maybe I am still strange but that’s beyond the point.

We have a tool for producers that lets us see the most recent comments on our videos, and I try to check it at least once a day.
Also, I put my e-mail address at the end of episodes so people can get in touch with me directly if they’d like. Anyway, I’d be happy to hear what you think!

          • FEnM

Ah, ok. I wondered of there might be something like that, Cool. (-:

Hello, I also recently discovered this site and immediatly found your
videos. I have watched all of them in just a few days and liked every

When I looked at the staff page I wondered, why there is more than
one person reviewing horror films, but after watching you and the Horror
        Guru/Count Jackula I realised why.

And I must say I like your “serious” style of presentation, without the elaborate side stories way better. Please keep it up.

Also I would like to know if you plan to review the first Silent Hill
film. I always loved it, but I would like to see if this is just a
fanboy reaction (I love the games, at least the first three) or if this
        movie really holds it’s own.

Good Luck and I hope there will be more videos soon!

        • fearfanforever

Thanks! I’m glad you enjoy my way of going about things. I actually did have a few side story things planed, and I might try something simple out at some point, but for the most part, I like to just review the movie I’ve picked and get on with it. 🙂
I DO plan on doing the first Silent Hill film, and although I didn’t like it when I first saw it, it’s really grown on me in the last few years. Probably because I was exposed to Silent Hill: Revelations, which gave me some perspective. *shudders*
Anyway, I’m shooting for 1 every week or so, so you’ll be getting another Fright Bites soon at least.

I saw this on TNT’s MonsterVision with Joe Bob Briggs. I love the fact the students are invited to a reunion, and when the find the school closed and in disrepair… they still go in and have their reunion. And the twist at the end… [shakes head] Bad movie! Bad! Go sit in the corner and think about what you’ve done.

BTW, the actual “April Fool’s Day” is a MUCH better movie than this one.

“Friday the 13th”! I’m so excited! I love your reviews, and I can’t wait to see what you do with my favorite horror franchise. (-:

    • fearfanforever

Ah, Joe Bob… Sadly, I missed his run on TV, but from everything I’ve seen and heard, he’s pretty awesome.
Yeah, the other one IS a much better movie. I found it to be pretty fun, although the low budget direct-to-video remake was garbage. Still better than the Prom Night remake though.
I’m over 25% through scripting Ft13th, so hopefully you won’t have to wait long.

      • FEnM

“Sadly I missed his run on TV”

        Awww.. )-:
He had one of my fave quotes about a really bad movie (I don’t really which one, but it can apply to a lot of them): “The best thing about this movie is that it does, eventually, end.”

Remakes: Yeah… The only (recent) horror remake I’ve bothered with is Ft13th. Honestly, the first Ft13th isn’t my fave (I prefer 2 and 4), so I figured I might give the remake a shot. I found it… meh.

        “I’m over 25% through scripting Ft13th”

        • fearfanforever

Yeah, my personal favorites are 2, 3, 4, and 6, each for their own reasons. And yeah, the remake sucked balls. I don’t want to go too far into it given that I intend on reviewing it, but it has the same problem as the Nightmare remake- unremitting blandness.
Yeah, one of the things that slows me down is that I sometimes think of three or four jokes for a given situation, and it takes me a while to figure out which ones fit a scene better, which ones match the tone of the review best, and which ones can be used later in the episode.

I now it’s probably too late to suggest an opening, but since it’s been a long time coming…I imagined you could introduce the Friday the 13th series this way: over shots of the list from Box Office Mojo of all the the high grossing Friday movies, followed by the list of the overall tomato ratings for the same movies on rotten tomatoes, say “Has there ever been another film series so commercially successful yet so critically despised.” Than cut to picture of anything Twilight related and say “That wasn’t an adaptation.”
Just though I’d throw this out there, since I know it’s not going to happen.

    • fearfanforever

Not bad! Thanks for the suggestion, and you raise a very good point about the series. Even though I probably won’t use what you’ve written wholesale, I’ll probably include that little discrepancy somewhere in my review of the series. Thanks!

  • clockworkcanary

I love to make fun of Slaughter High. What other movie rips off F13 and Flashdance at the same time? Love the soundtrack! Can’t wait for the F13 reviews!

  • DeanD

OMG! I had no idea you have videos on this site that don’t appear on blip! I was in the mood for one of your NOES videos (Dream Master & Child double feature) but I was having problems with my browser so I came to this site to see if it worked here and voila! Holy S#!+. Had no clue!

Never heard of this particular movie but from your review I can already tell I’ve seen it a million times before. And on a personal note, your NOES series is some of the sharpest and funniest writing I’ve seen in these kinds of vids! Real talk. As always keep up the great work!

We’re friendly people here (mostly). Look around, comment freely. We’re happy to have you. 🙂

Glad to hear that you’ve found us, and thanks for the compliment! I hope you have as much fun with my Friday the 13th videos. 🙂
