They as I understand it also hire newcomers to the industry (be they young and inexperienced or coming from another career entierly) which gives them the opportunity to get something on their resumé and some experience so it works as an entrance for people who aspire to something as well

    • Cecil_Trachenburg

Yep, they bring in young talent to do a lot of the grunt work. Helps to give them experience on a real film set and Asylum gets lots of workers on the cheap.

The trade odd is you get problems, like what happened with the filming of I am Omega. They filmed chunk of the movie with a Stedicam but someone dropped and broke it.They couldn’t afford to purchase a new one so they filmed the rest of the movie shakey cam.

The ones who saw the real ‘Battle: Los Angeles’ are the ones who got duped.

    • Cecil_Trachenburg

I actually really enjoyed Battle: LA. Yes, I know I’m in the minority.

“Still more believable than Twister”. Preach on, brother! I hate, hate, hate that movie! The only thing I liked in that film is when the tornado blows through the drive-in and Jack Nicholson’s face from The Shining is super imposed on it for a brief second. I thought that was a neat, clever moment. I’m amazed it got past the film editor.

    • Cecil_Trachenburg

I don’t hate Twister, it just was one of the most ridiculous, mistake filled movies I have ever seen. Some great effects though.

  • Sharknado was the finest piece of cinema ever put to film. Also, did you know that the hippie driver was cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch? Yup, Robbie Rist. I swear the Hollywood sign put some mustard into grinding him into the concrete.

    • Bouncy X

he was also the voice of Michelangelo in the live action Ninja Turtle movies!

      • The_Stig

He was also Doctor Zee in Galactica 1980.

    • Cecil_Trachenburg

I knew I should have looked him up! Good one!

  • Jay_Bay

Sharks…in the streets. And no Street Sharks reference? For shame, Sharknado.

    • Cecil_Trachenburg

Most likely a large part of their audience is unaware of Street Sharks. (although I agree, Street Sharks!!!)

    • I believe the technical term is “Jaw-some”.

  • Asylum: Why try harder if it isn’t going to make us any more money?
Artist: Don’t you want to contribute something to the world other than shit?
Asylum: Not unless it gets me more money.

    • The_Stig

Say what you will about how the Asylum rolls, but it works.

      • The next time Michael Bay makes something from our youth, let’s say “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” and it makes $500,000,000 you cannot throw rocks.

        • The_Stig

“Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies?” because they make a shitload of money. We may hate it, but it’s true. What it does not mean is that we don’t have a right to bitch about Michael Bay movies for completely fucking sucking.

        • Cecil_Trachenburg

Also, the Asylum is making movies from a fraction of what Bay does. I think larger movies should be held more accountable when they have horrendous plots. They have the luxury of getting better scripts or working more to make them better. They just choose not to.

    • Cecil_Trachenburg

To be fair, look at the industry as a whole. You think the Tyler Perry movies are being done because of art? They make money and they will stop making them when they stop making money.

      • I would at least hope that Tyler Perry thought they were worth making.

        …I would hope…

The last time kids trapped in a school bus needed help from someone up on an overpass, Ponch just balls-out jumped onto the roof–while the bus was still speeding. If only they could work in such a CHiPs tribute here… Well, why not, Shark Theft Auto?

Speaking of movies as ridiculous as their titles would indicate: any thought to Gingerdead Man?

    • Cecil_Trachenburg

CHiPs! Now I have the theme in my head. That is both a good and a bad thing.

I like the Gingerdead Man. It’s funny but I did think there was room for improvement. Haven’t seen the sequels yet though so maybe they go a little further. Fantastic choice for the voice.

  • Continuity? What continuity?
