Return to Oz (1985) (part 2 of 5)
So now Dorothy has nothing to do other than sit around listening to the storm. She combs the jack o’ lantern’s non-existent hair to kill a little more time. Eventually, an ominous squeaking outside the door grows louder and louder, until finally, Nurse Wilson appears. Behind her, there are two men pushing a stretcher.
“Would you like a ride?” asks Nurse Wilson.
Hell to the no! Run, Dorothy, run!
Of course, Dorothy doesn’t run. She’s a polite girl, after all, and she gets on the stretcher. She barely protests as they strap her down.
They wheel her into the operating room, where Doc Worley is waiting. He asks Dorothy how she’s doing, and she says she wishes she wasn’t tied down. You and me both, kid.
The doctor and his staff begin to prepare Dorothy for her treatment, which includes some really creepy headphones that are supposed to zap electricity into her brain.
But before the doctor can zap Dorothy, the storm causes the power to go out. Phew. They leave Dorothy all alone in a dark room, strapped to a gurney, while they take care of the problem with the power. In the distance, Dorothy can hear the sounds of more patients screaming.
