Reese Witherspoon loves Tina Fey almost as much as we do
“Ever read a book that changed your life? Me, either,” jokes Jim Gaffagin. Well, Reese Witherspoonactually has. And that book was Bossypants by our beloved patron saint of TV comedy writers Tina Fey.
In an interview with Fox News Sunday (no, I have no idea why she picked that show or that show picked her), Witherspoon says she was inspired by Fey’s determination to climb the ladder in the TV business until she was in a position to hire more women for creative and on-air jobs.
Thus, says Witherspoon, she created her own production company, Pacific Productions, to co-produce her movies and have greater influence on the quality of jobs and roles available to women.
“Women aren’t just girlfriends and wives, you know, in movies, to big leading men,” she tells Wallace, according to a preview of the sit-down. “Those are great roles, but I feel like women are much more complex than that. And I’m excited to be able to help them get their stories to the screen.”
I’m sure the Fox News audience cares very deeply about that issue, Reese. But those of us who do applaud you.
