Omen IV: The Awakening (1991) (part 2 of 3)

Now Delia’s reached school age, and being played by Asia Vieira, who will unfortunately be playing her for the remainder of the film. Asia had a recurring role on the Canadian drama Street Legal, but the only Canadian TV show I’ve ever seen is Degrassi Junior High, so someone else will have to fill in the details. (In addition, there are pictures out there of Asia, all grown up and getting naked in the Colin Farrell movie A Home at the End of the World—or, um, so I’ve been told—which makes Omen IV that much more disturbing to watch.)

Anyway, Delia is getting bullied by this chubby redheaded kid named Jerome. He teases her, steals her lunch, and stomps all over her PB&J. In retaliation, Delia completely wails on him with her lunch box. He responds in kind, socking in her in the mouth hard enough to split her lip. The oh-so-evil Delia simply smiles, knowing that no one will ever believe she hit him first.

Cut to the Yorks meeting Jerome’s parents, who are none too happy about the situation. Jerome’s Dad takes his son’s side, of course, and spits out, “You got a psycho for a daughter!” Then he tells Hubby, “And you, Mr. Congressman! See what happens next election!” Oh no! Every vote counts!

Delia, oh Delia, how can it be?

Naturally, Delia plays innocent with Daddy. Faye clearly has her doubts, but Delia insists in her best Bad Child Actor voice that Jerome hit her first. Daddy is completely fished in, and hugs his daughter, and in this shot Delia looks directly into the camera with an evil smile on her face. And would you believe the movie gets even less subtle?
