Moment By Moment (1978) (part 3 of 9)

It’s the next day, and we see a residential neighborhood that’s currently under construction. An expensive car pulls into a driveway, and a middle-aged guy dials a number on his car phone. Ah, car phones, whatever happened to those? Some guy in a hard hat comes over but the guy in the car waves him away, and this exchange is primarily to let us know that the guy in the car is “Mr. Rowlings”, i.e., Trish’s estranged husband.

Trish answers the phone, all groggy from sleeping pills. He says he needs to see her because there’s “so much we have to decide on”. Then he adds, “You seem so… withdrawn. Like you’re not there.” Dude, your wife’s been popping pills. Cut her some slack, okay? Hubby says he knows she’s hurt and angry, but doesn’t want everything left up to him. Trish bitterly responds, “You left the marriage up to me, I’m leaving the divorce up to you! I hope you have better luck!”
