Local TV anchor drops LIVE f-bomb in tirade against government-dependent moochers

Tired of all those moochers living off your tax dollars with their fancy… crossing guards??

Yes, crossing guards. The ones who stop traffic and wave to parents in school zones as little children cross the street. It’s an outrage, I tell you! And it’s the straw that broke the camel’s back for local news anchor Matt Pieper of News 12 in the Bronx, who outed himself as a rightwing asshole with an adlibbed, bitter, on-air tirade against crossing guards and all those government-dependent freeloaders who need them.

Pieper: “Parents should do their fucking job and walk their little kids to school on their own, and not rely on everyone else. Kind of like people rely on government assistance for their entire lives.”

Reporter Amy Yensi: “I think I qualify for government assistance.”

Pieper: “Just check that box, girl.”

Of course, neither Pieper nor Yensi knew their mics were live or their conversation was being broadcast live throughout the Bronx.

Hell, yeah, there’s video. Jump to :45 seconds in for the good stuff. It’s well worth it.

The station quickly apologized on Facebook:

“A personal conversation between an anchor and a reporter was unintentionally placed on air. News 12 the Bronx deeply regrets that this incident took place. The remarks of these individuals in no way reflect the views of News 12 management or other News 12 personnel.

The Week notes that the Bronx “had an average 12.7 percent unemployment rate in 2012, and the percentage of Bronx residents living in poverty rose to 30.4 percent—the highest rate of any county in New York State and the highest of any urban county in the United States.”

Perhaps Pieper will get the privilege of seeing how much fun it is to collect unemployment soon.
