Lifetime Original Movie "Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever" is a real thing and just made my day with best-ever casting
Best casting ever and I am not even being sarcastic, you guys!!
Despite the fact that I will never actually watch it, I am excited about the Lifetime Original Movie Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever.
Who gets to be the voice of Grumpy Cat herself? None other than Parks and Recreation’s Aubrey Plaza, who plays the so-surly-she’s-adorable April Ludgate. This is inspired casting and so much better than the original choice of Glee’s Jane Lynch.
I’m excited for the show because it’s the kind of intentionally unabashedly hokey Christmas special I loved as a kid. And since it’s co-written by Spongebob Squarepants developer/writer Tim Hill, I have reasonable hope that there will be some genuinely clever and original silliness mixed in with the hackneyed holiday tropes.
If you’re curious about the plot, Grumpy Cat is constantly passed over for adoption at the pet store where she lives until, one day, in walks a 12-year-old girl who can understand what Grumpy Cat says. Hilarity and life lessons ensue.
Admit it, there are some things you roll your eyes at while smiling. For me, turning Grumpy Cat into a series of TV movies (and that’s undoubtedly the producers’ hope) is one of those things. If I’m ever stuck babysitting my six- and nine-year-old nieces, I am definitely searching for this shit on the Hulu Plus.
