VIDEO: The Haunting in Connecticut (2009)

We’re sorry...

This video is no longer available due to the shutdown of Blip.tv.

Mr. Mendo’s back with another Hack Attack, and this time he’s joined by the host of Terror Obscura, Fear Fan!

Together, they examine The Haunting in Connecticut, the 2009 horror film starring Virginia Madsen, Kyle Gallner, and Elias Koteas. Allegedly based on a true story (it’s not), the movie tells the tale of a family who moves into a creepy house, only to discover it’s really a former funeral parlor haunted by demons. Yes, that old story. No, seriously, it’s the oldest story ever told. Watch Mendo and Fear Fan explain how this hodgepodge of 20 better horror films might be the blandest movie ever made.

I NEVER SEEN THIS MOVIE BUT I HAD SEN THE DOCUMENTED MOVIE TV IT REALLY GOOD. I THINK THE HISTORY CHANNEL DONE IT. AS FOR IT BEING TURE WILL IT REALLY UP TO THE VIEWERS TO DECIDE WEATHER IT ACTUALLY HAPPEN OR NOT. AS FOR THIS MOVIE I AM REALLY NOT RUSHING TO SEE IT. AND MOST OF THINGS YOU HAD POINTED OUT WAS NOT IN THE POTHER MOVIE. PULSE IT THE OLDER CHILD WHO WAS SICK HAD GOTTEN POSSES AND THEY OWN THE HOUSE IN THE OTHER VISION SO YES THIS IS INCONSTANT. WITH THE OTHER ENDING AT ALL. SO YA I NOT RUSHING TO SEE THIS MOVIE AND YOUR REVIEW HAD ONLY BACK UP MY REASON. BUT IF YOU TWO DO FIND THE DOCUMENTED VISION YOU SHOULD CHECK IT OUT IF ANY YOU WILL SEE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE TWO.

The montage at the beginning was devastating. You did a great job overall, but that alone was epically cringeworthy; Especially so since I know and love all the films you showed. Kudos.

Thank you, Mr. Mendo, for introducing me to “It’s a Dead Man’s Party”.  Somehow, I had never heard it before, but it’s amazing.  The movie looks like an easy miss (like cheap, contemporary horror needs help to look formulaic and dull), but as I had never even heard of it before, I prolly didn’t need the warning.  But at least I took something positive from it.  And yeah, I’m currently catching up on your backlog.

I’ve never been a fan of the horror genre, but I rarely felt confident enough about new titles to actually give one a chance.  What are the must-sees, other than the original Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare, Psycho, Living Dead, and the other really obvious ones they made a bunch of shitty sequels of?

Something wrong with the video. Just says, ‘Sorry, we’re unable to play this episode.’ Bummer, as I’d been thinking of streaming this movie. Ah well. Guess I’ll just have to take you guys at your word.

Seems to be working now. Sometimes, if you leave your window open too long, videos have trouble playing. :-)
