What You’ve All Been Waiting For: Our Pick For Happiest Happy Thanksgiving Movie

We’re sure you’re looking to Happy today to find out our recommendations for the most Thanksgiving-y movie ever. A movie that captures the heart and soul of this great American holiday. A movie that will lift up your spirit. A movie for the whole family to enjoy after a delicious enormous meal. A movie to watch, and fall in love with, again and again, and of course that movie is Todd Haynes’ Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story.

Even the little ones will be thrilled to watch Barbie and Ken dolls re-enact the tragic life story of Karen Carpenter and her untimely demise from anorexia. Uncle Charlie can marvel at how Haynes made those little teeny tiny Kleenex boxes to scale when he filmed this thing, because that isn’t obsessive AT ALL. Your parents can argue over whether the outfits really look like what Karen and Richard Carpenter wore in the 1970s. And finally, you can all be stuck with the earworm that is “Superstar” stuck in your head all day, singing the catchy yet really totally creepy long-distance stalker-y lyrics under your breath. See? Don’t you feel more festive already? Yay!
