I was glad they decided the way to hide her was to just take off the disguise. It was so obvious, handed to them, but I’ve seen shows that don’t even has the self awareness to go, “Oh, yeah, the simplest thing is sometimes the best.”

Jeremy has some great moments in the series, even if he’s played a bit too much for comedy. The buss stuff comes to mind. It’s not his fault that he’s a little slow.

I’m on the fence about the no dating thing. I’m stuck between, “You knew what you were signing up for” in regard to the idols that get caught dating even though they signed a contract, and, “This whole thing is just plain offensive” in regard to how far and extreme the reactions and shaming go. The contract thing is a hang up for me. When I work a job I have responsibilities and expectation. If I don’t fulfill those I get fired. If I don’t want to do what a job requires, I shouldn’t be taking the job. Still, the real issue is whether the no dating clause should be there in the first place. I don’t think it should be, but as long as it’s there?

Facts are facts. Until they get rid of the no dating thing, and they really need to, these would be idols know what they’re signing up for. Nothing excuses the shaming and extremes the reactions go to though.

It does seem weird they could legally even put something like no dating( at All) in the contract.
I could sort of see them say you cant date your band mates to keep the group from having personal flare ups destroy the group. ( see Heart ) but none at all?
Although they sort of do the same thing here in office settings your not supposed to have personal relationships with your coworkers but iv not ever heard of it being enforced unless it crosses the harassment line.

In common law, there’s a doctrine of unconscionability, where terms of a contract that are so unjust, and/or lopsidedly in favor of the party with superior bargaining power, are unenforceable. I don’t know about you, but I’d consider a “no-dating” clause to be unconscionable, since it’s pretty much asking for something that is both psychologically unhealthy and nigh-humanly impossible in the long run.

Unfortunately one has to get it to the point it’s recognized as such, and do so not the companies, system, fans and potentially even the idols may not want or agree with the change. There are many sides to everything, wrong right or indifferent. Not to discourage, just pointing out that it’s not just a matter of saying, “That’s wrong” but also dealing with it (for the long haul), potentially in the face of those who may not welcome, and even fight (legally) against, change.

I imagine if you’re interested that there are already people interested, possibly already caught up in, dealing with such issues. Just a matter of reaching out.

SINCERE QUESTION: If I were Korean, raised in Korea, would I get why Tae-kyung is supposed to be the clear choice here? Or is it just that soap operas be soap operas no matter where you go?

Also, if you were to make, say, phone charms or magnets or.. something.. with those little caricatures I miiiight decorate my phone or my fridge or something with them.

As a Not-Korean person, I can’t be sure. However my observations lead me to believe that a lot of the backwards things you see in KDramas are a lot like the backwards things we see all the time in American TV. Lots of little things that have been passed down from previous generations. Some of us recognize how silly they are, some of us don’t.

Fun Fact: A lot of Europeans tourists have visited America under the impression that all American women are extremely hot. Those of us who aren’t morbidly obese, that is. Because on American TV, women have to be attractive to be on television. It’s not something we, as Americans, notice because it’s just part of the background radiation of our lives.

I guess it’s a case of “soap operas be soapy,” then. That Fun Fact is an excellent point. And no doubt disappointing for european tourists.

First coupla seconds are clipped. You start mid-sentence, mid-word. Unless “eets laird” is Korean for “last time on…”, and not…Scottish or something.

Need more time to process the awesome that is the episode, though. I usually do a next-day re-watch. Then maybe.

Good news, got cable internet and off that DSL crap. Bad news, the router is at one end and this computer is at the other. Before I do a late night rearranging, it’s THOUGHT TIME!

    Oh TK. Never change, buddy.
Don’t quote me on this, but I have a feeling that Nycea meant something else besides “dedicated fanbase”. On a serious note, nice timed insertion on that true meaning.
Man, no matter where you go, pop groups/boy bands/musical mercs are a life of slavery. Damn…
Honestly, I have no idea what that thought is you are tal…..OH MY GOD!!!! It just came in. Damnit.
So, An Jell can really say they “started from the bottom. now they’re here”….what? They have more of a right to that than Drake does.
Good good. Let the shame flow thru you, Nycea.
You know, maybe she is just trying to take Asshat out….for the good of mankind. Yeah, that’s it.
That ballad, with TK and his mom in the flashback….I know it. But…..it’s lost on me.
Awww, no psuedo-commercial this time. Ah shucks.
HOLY FUCK, ASSHAT JUST SMILED. I REPEAT, ASSHAT SMILED. AND IT’S CREEPY AS FUCK. BOARD UP THE WINDOWS AND LOCK THE DOORS. THE END IS NIGH!
Oh man. Jeremy is so confused about himself. Kinda sad, really.
Dongmancer….I got an idea for a Shadowrun character!
NUN WITH A TASER….RATED PG-13! You know, for kids.
Oh cmon, that is the most contrived situational….the second most contrived situational mishap I ever seen.

Well, next time should be….butt slapping good 😉

Okay, that show now turned into Clumsy Watson and Sherlock Tae-Kyung – well, minus the “solving crimes”-part, but: Who knows. Might be popping up any time soon, now.
