Mortal Kombaaaaaaat! Cecil reviews one of the best examples of how to do a video game movie the right way.
A look at the 2009 thriller Knowing.DOA: Dead or Alive (2006)
Based on the video game of the same name, it's a film with a risky concept: Gather four hot women (Holly Valance, Devon Aoki, Sarah Carter, Jaime Pressly), put them in as little clothes as possible, and have them fight each other! Luckily for Cecil, the concept works, making for one of the best video game adaptations ever.Postal (2007)
German wunderkind Dr. Uwe Boll triumphs again with his latest masterpiece, Postal. Funnier than Schindler's List, and yet more soul-searching than Epic Movie, the box-office phenomenon that was Postal has undoubtedly changed the course of cinema. Thank you, Dr. Boll!Stargate SG-1 “Avenger 2.0”
“While it isn’t the worst concept for an episode ever, it’s still not winning fan love, twelve years after it aired. Okay, so maybe some fans love it, but this fan cringes over the existence of it.”Ishtar (1987): a recap (part 1)
“Fans of the movie (and yes, this movie does have fans) will tell you it’s actually an underappreciated gem. I’m here to tell you those people might be clinically insane.”Street Fighter (1994)
Cecil kicks off 2013 with another video game adaptation! This time, it's the Jean-Claude Van Damme classic Street Fighter, also starring Ming-Na Wen as Chun-Li, Kylie Minogue as Cammy, and Raul Julia as M. Bison in one of his final roles.
