My parents are from Denmark, and so am I. Still life in Denmark and speak the language in my every-day life. English is only my second language.I'm sorry my accent is so impenetrable, as you call it, in this video, people have said there's definite improvement in my later works, so I sincerely hope that is true. Yet, there just are some things which will never go away, like.. how I ended up saying "Wampire." instead of "Vampire." through the entire Twilight review....

Good video. I don't agree with some things, but still very good.I watched the movie last week and I must admit I totally loved it.OK, I must admit that my personal circumstances had a lot to do with it.I totally lost contact with Disney during the last decade, but last Christmas I got a massive Disney nostalgia attack. My cousin's daughters are 7 and 4 years old right now, and they are starting to watch the classics. So as you can imagine, I was caught in the middle, making me remember the classics from my childhood.During this attack, a friend of mine recommended me to check "Tangled" and it surprised me how much I liked it.Mostly because the two leads are great. Both Rapunzel and Flynn/Eugene are nicely three-dimensional, and that's something you can't say about most Disney couples, or main stream animated couples, for that matter.Also, it was pretty great for me that they didn't use a "love at first sight" scenario so common in fairy tales. Heck, at first they aren't even attracted to each other, nor there is any UST on sight! Their relationship builds up beautifully throughout the movie, feels real and this regard I think it's easily one of the best romances Disney has ever pulled of. It went so well for me that I even totally forgave the blatant Deus Ex Machina with the tear at the end (Yeah, the original fairy tale did the same thing, but still that's not a good enough excuse).I thought the songs were lacking too, although I must say that except "Mother Knows Best", they grew on me after listening to them a couple of times. Even "When Will My Life Begin" has its charm, specially the triumphant reprise (maybe because that one doesn't sound like a pop song that much). Still, we know Alan Menken can do way better than this. His old master pieces also grew on you when you listened to them several times, but unlike the songs from "Tangled", they felt memorable from the very first chord.As you say, Disney plays it safe with this movie. But I think it also plays it RIGHT. They didn't try to push the envelope, but they made their best to make sure that it was one hell of an envelope. And considering their focus was trying to go back to their roots, I think it was the right call. Doing what they were good at and doing it right.It's not the new "Beauty and the Beast", but I don't think it needs to be. It's the movie that has brought the good old Disney back, and at least I missed them so much that I'm glad. In part because that means that we get BOTH Disney AND Pixar at the same time. And that's a reason to celebrate.PS: Gothel is not a witch. Actually, apart from her looks, in the movie it's not implied that she might be. She's just as you said: a selfish old lady that found a magic flower.I dunno, personally, I don't think the lack of scary stuff hurts the movie in any meaningful way. Could have been cooler with it. Probably. But as it stands, I didn't miss it either.PS2: In the prison scene, the bandits know where Eugene is because the horse brought them. Considering that horse is just not any horse, it wasn't that hard to buy.

Well, I do think there's lost potential in this movie, and I guess that is what bothers me.. no actually what bothers me is that for a while I heard obsessive praise about this movie every-where around me and my only respond was. "It's not that great! okay!" Again.. nothing wrong with, but man does it feel tiny. I was just watching Lion King in cinema, and that is so much how that movie is supposed to be seen, it did not only feel big, it felt enormous. I had chills down my spine several times, and that is in spite of having seen that one a lot when I was a children, I know lion king almost scene by scene. This movie, as amusing as it was.. was just very tiny, very safe.. nothing what-so ever wrong with it. But like Menken pulled off a solid decent job, we all know he is capable of better. And here, we know the Disney studio itself is capable of much much better.

I agree with your opinions on 'Tangled'. For the past decade, I've been losing alot of respect for Disney, and your final words on this movie pretty much nails it. The studio in general, and Alan Menkin in particular, are capable of so much more, and yet, they wimp out with such A safe, and toothless movie. I miss the days when Disney had guts, and would sneak in scary images, and insane humor in their animation weather it's in their feature animation, or 'The Disney Afternoon' shows. And they use to cater to everyone. That's what I miss from Disney. Nowadays, they've swept that under the rug, and limit their audience to young idiot kids. (Particularly young girls. The same demographic that made Justin Beiber, and sparkly vampires into A cultural phenomenon.) It angers me that more people know Disney for Hilary Duff, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and those stupid 'talking puppy'. movies rather than the many, many good films, and shows they were once known for! My other beef with Disney is how they no longer have any faith in pencil animation, and prefers CGI instead. As an aspiring cartoonist, that breaks my heart because I don't want to see pencil animation go the way of the dodo. Anyway, this was A great outlet for me to vent about current Disney. Keep up the good work.

I'm glad you like my ranting. :P I hope you won't mind another one either. :PSo, what bothers you is not the movie itself, but rather what other people say about it?Well, I can't say I don't know the feeling. I used to write reviews myself back in the day (video games in my case) and I had to deal with it pretty often.However, I will risk sounding patronizing (not my intention, I swear) but tell you something about that.That's a very dangerous line of thinking for reviewing. Childish at best and dickish at worst. What other people say about a film, movie, song, or whatever, is something separate from the work itself, and hence totally irrelevant when you have to measure its own merits.And definitely, it is not an excuse for going to the other side of the balance and overrate a film that everyone hates nor underrate a film that everyone loves. Specially if you stand kinda in the middle. Not that I'm saying you do that here. Not all the way, at least.About feeling tiny, I'm not so sure what you mean. If you mean the scale of the story, then I definitely don't agree with it making it a lesser movie. It's an intimate movie, with few characters, but the few there are, are played mostly right. The focus of the story is Rapunzel and Flynn's relationship and character arcs, and it that regard, it delivers. Just because in a story don't happen "big things" doesn't mean the story is worse because of it. It's just a different approach, and it's well done in this film for the most part.Now, if you mean that the movie could have been more thought-provoking, then yeah, it could have been. There definitely was a missed opportunity in Gorthel's character. If there was some sign that she cared about Rapunzel as a person (albeit in an abusive way, since that's the whole point of Rapunzel's character arc), the movie would have felt deeper. Although the way she kept Rapunzel's self-esteem all the way down by stealth verbal abuse was pretty good, realistic even.So, at the end we have a movie that has some genuinely great things (Rapunzel and Flynn romance and arcs, the action sequence at the dam and the hauntingly beautiful lanterns scene) mixed with other kinda average moments (Gorthel's character and not-so-great-as-they-should songs). But those average moments don't really hurt badly the whole thing. Well, maybe the non-sensical "I Have a Dream" sequence does it a little bit, but it doesn't ruin it either.They just keep the movie from being a master piece, leaving everything in a "pretty damn good". Yeah, it can be frustrating that it's not a master piece when you know the people in charge could have done it. But "pretty damn good" is still "pretty damn good".So, there are people who overrate it. So what? They will eventually grow out of it. Specially when the perception from the last decade makes it understandable. During the last decade Disney was not even the shadow of its own past, and with "Tangled" they went back to that past. Not the best part of that past, mind you, but to a good part of it. I'd say, on the "Hercules", "Mulan", "Tarzan" level. The final years of their so-called "Rennaissance" era, so to speak.And hell! Disney also had a dark age before "The Little Mermaid", but it's not like that single movie came out of nowhere. After the huge "The Black Cauldron" fiasco, Disney got another pretty damn good movie with "The Great Mouse Detective". If history repeats itself, then "Tangled" is the indication that the next "The Little Mermaid" is around the corner.Now that they have seen their old self still can makes lots of money (Don't know where do you take that the movie had a "meh" performance. It's Disney second grossest movie ever), maybe they will take more risks next time.And as a matter of fact, maybe they already are. Their next big movie is in an video game world from the 1980's. "Toy Story" meets "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" meets the Golden Age of video games. Can't wait to see it!Wow! That was a pretty long rant! I hope I didn't bore anyone. :PSee you.

Aw, thank you.Well, to be fair to my danish comrades. My Accent is not really Danish.. It's some kind of weird hybrid from several European languages. No one knows what the hey it is! It went so far that my Language teacher asked me when I had moved to the Denmark! because I spoke both English and German, entirely correct, but with an accent she could not identify oO; But that accent is real! It's how I talk, I didn't do anything. most I am just glad that you think that I am funny!

Well.. I speak a little german. And can read a little of it. So yeah as I said, my accent is not really Danish, it's a weird hybrid of multiple Europeans dialects! just yesterday I accidently spoke with a swedish accent while shopping, I just can't control my own tongue!

Rapunzel's not schizophrenic, she's bipolar.Sofie, though reminds me of Benzaie, only much much hotter. Can't understand half of what you say but I'm mesmerized by all of it. Seriously Sofie, I would date you. And I must agree. Waltzes, much like bowties, are cool. Even cooler than a dirty badass thief gang.I liked the objectivity. Way too many internet reviewers go over the top with the negativity, it's pretty tired. Nice to see someone with substantially GOOD things to say about a movie for a change. Well, as much as I am glad that people think I am nice looking. It pains me that you don't understand half of what I am saying! I will try to get a more clear pronunciation, try to talk slower and softer. If you can give me a few pointers of what I can do to make it easier for you to understand I'll listen! Well, I adore movies. and that is why I wanted to do this! And well, I don't see why I should go out of my way to find bad movies when there's so many movies I feel like I have a lot to say about. on good and bad. Oh there's bad movies on my list I can moan and rant about for sure, but again. I have a relation to those movies and some-thing to say about them. My list is so long as I really do care a lot about movies that I just don't see why I should stray away from subjects I want to talk about just to talk about bad movies I actually don't care for. When there are so many many many out there I do indeed care for.

Yeah, I agree the songs were pretty lacking in this movie. I was really disappointed in the Witch (or "Witch") too. I wouldn't have minded them downplaying her threatening…ness if they had made her a more complex character. Maybe had her actually care about Rapunzel a bit or something. There were little bits that hinted they might go in that direction at the beginning, but in the end NOPE, all she cared about was staying young. Blah.(Though I have to admit the "This is the strangest thing I've ever done!" part was pretty hilarious.)

Yeah, she is pretty one dimensional if you think about it.And all that being said, there are a lot of moments in this movie genuinely funny. All though, also many jokes falls flat, I know I didn't comment on it in the review.. but that lizard thingy that keeps on crawling around.What the heck is it even doing in the movie? I can't stand that thing, I don't think it's neither funny, smart or cute. It doesn't even remind me of those cutesy animals from prior movies, in anything, it reminds me of those obviously placed cutesy animals from the Barbie movies.. Don't ask why I know what there usually is in a Barbie movie..

Yeah, the lizard thing felt really out of place, both from a narrative and an ecological standpoint. I guess I get why they put it in there, so Rapunzel wasn't just talking to herself for the first 20 minutes of the movie. But they could have picked a more… relevant animal. Something that related to the story or the characters. Like a turtle to reflect her "sheltered" life or… something.

Urhm yeah well. As much as I would love to be a script-writer for disney. (would be a dream come true actually, I am aiming to work in childrens entertainment.) I have to admit this movie was obviously carefully crafted script wise. To carefully.. I will say it was so structurally on the marks it could end up feeling a little fake and rehearsed. It's exactly what it's crafted to be! All though, with a bird which Rapunzel could let out as she leaves the tower herself (that's visual indication right there.) we could get rid of the freaking thing by letting the bird flying away instead of having some creepy lizard thing hanging around for no reason for the rest of the movie. With little good will we could even make the bird the one to tell the thugs that Rapunzel is in danger, then at least it did some-thing.. and man I should just stop now.

I liked the review, but I think she could work on her delivery. It wasn't the accent - it's that she's *yelling* about everything, good, bad, and neutral. Take a breath, slow down a little so when you get worked up about something we can tell it's important.

Okay, I'll admit it...I'm a 17 year old girl, and I freakin' love Tangled. I love the music, I love the characters, I love the animation, I love everything about it. You're absolutely right, though--it's safe. I don't really consider that a bad thing, per se, despite the fact that I rarely ever like girly/kiddie movies, but yes. Safe.I will admit, though...in my mind, I can't help but rate it to be as good as The Little Mermaid, or close to it, simply because I like the characters a lot better. Eric really did very little in The Little Mermaid until the very end, and the only reason he got the girl was because he happened to be standing on the deck of the ship when Ariel was peeking through the railing. I didn't like him. Ariel was a rebellious brat, when her father was just trying to keep her safe. Flynn was...well, everything you said in your video, and Rapunzel was technically rebellious, but honestly, even someone as incredibly sheltered as her can figure out that something wasn't right with the whole "remain in the tower your whole life" thing. Tangled doesn't come close to Beauty and the Beast or many of the other classics, though.The witch did very little magic in the film, true. I can't recall whether or not she was referred to as a witch by the characters much...I thought it was more "Mother" or "the old lady". Witch or no, she did make a good villain, mainly -because- she wasn't a witch. She was just an evil, conniving bitch. That makes her slightly more creepy, in my opinion. To each their own, of course.Anyway! I shall not argue about that. You liked Tangled overall, so I can't say anything beyond "meh, difference of opinion", especially since everything you said was quite true, apart from whether or not the two beginning songs were memorable, which is something that varies from person to person anyway. Good recap! I look forward to more!Side notes: One, I love your accent. I know, half the people in your comments are going to say the exact same thing, but hey, it's true. Well, as you said. Each to their own.I agree, Flint is a way better character than Eric, I love flint, Eric has no personalities what-so-ever.Ariel and Rapunzel though is a whole other competition and really comes down to personal preference as they are both more well rounded characters. Little mermaid is not my disney movie, not be a long stretch to be honest, never saw it that much. I just think it has cooler moments in it than Tangled, and the sense of danger in the ending climax more pronounced and real. I even think the kind of relationship they were trying to pull off with Gothal (yeah that's her name.) and Rapunzel was done eons better in Hunchback of Notredame. Where Frollo really had this soft persona when-ever with Quasi, which made him that much more frightening, especially when he looses it in the end. Gothal just doesn't reach Frollo to the socks. not by a long stretch. the side notes. one; aww, well, I am actually very positively surprised over the love of my accent. It's amazing people like it instead of hating it. two; yeas it is, I am a hardcore musical fan in many aspects, and yeas, we are going to go over some musicals at some point, some I have planned on are the Bob Fosse musicals.

Technically this was a musical review wasn't it? I commented on all four musical numbers! Didn't I? immediately recognised "Mother knows best." as a waltz and erh. The musical numbers just didn't play that large a part in this movie thus it seemed kind of pointless to comment to much on them.. I mean, they were there, they were solid but the only thing stand out-ish were "At last I see the light." and how do you analyse that thing? It's a simple show tune, as simple as it get! which is why it's so beautiful, beauty often comes from simplicity, also in music. But.. there's isn't much to analyse! it doesn't use musical themes or notes formerly presented as a Webber musical, it's not a smart twist, it's not innovative. It's adorable but it's just.. there.. I don't mean to brag.. but erh.. I am a real musician. I play the piano, the trumpet, sing and been in a couple of musicals. mostly I am a jazz musician actually, but only written a few very simple songs for own enjoyment. So I guess that sort of give me a better grounding to talk about musicals. I can often identify numbers for what they are and argue about my feelings for them. How would you feel about a review on the new recording of the 25 anniversary of Phantom of the opera? The way people who are to lazy to go to the theatre should see the show. Nope, I do not like that movie in spite of loving the musical! I am so glad that finally you can just go and get a show-recording! I plan to be a really annoying pest to "The Phantom Reviewer." and then beg him to be in my review!And well, rant on Sarah! look at my message, I am a talker, I love to talk! love to talk to people! what-ever you have to say, spit it out!

Technically, you're absolutely right. :) I tend to think of things like Les Miserables, Wicked, and Phantom of the Opera as musicals, not Disney movies, but you ARE correct. I was so glad you liked "I See the Light". I love that piece. I remember sitting in the theater with my sister and watching that scene...it was just...wow. The scene was fantastic. It's probably the reason I love the movie so much. As you said, there really isn't much to analyze, but not being innovative isn't necessarily bad.What can I say? When it comes to Disney songs, I usually like the romantic ones, innovative or not. It's what I get for not liking chick flicks--have to get my romance fix somewhere else. ;)I play the piano and the harp myself--have for years--but my experience as a composer and singer is sorely lacking, something I hope to rectify when I get to college next year. My exposure to musicals (besides Disney movies ;)) began fairly recently, after I watched the 2005 Phantom of the Opera music and my sister gave me the Broadway version of Les Miserables soundtrack, so I'm not terribly good at much but sitting back and enjoying the music yet, haha. So far the only musical CDs I have (again, besides Disney, hehe) are a few versions of Les Miserables, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Phantom of the Opera, and Wicked.Please, please do Phantom of the Opera sometime! I would love a good review/recap of the 25th anniversary one...though if you feel like tearing apart the movie sometime, that wouldn't be bad either. I'm glad I watched it, 'cuz I enjoyed it the first time and it got me into musicals in general, but upon repeated viewings and slightly more experience with musicals, its flaws have become apparent and I can no longer stand it. >_> I'd watch a recap of it from The Agony Booth, though, especially if you were the reviewer. You seem to give a good, fair balance of what's done well and what's done poorly. ^_^PS: Be careful about giving me permission to rant. My coworkers once made that mistake. I've actually seen the stage version of Phantom, three times. Twice in London and ones in Denmark. It's still as good as ever!If there is just one thing the DVD anniversary version is lacking.. some of the effects.How the Chandelier is raised over the audience doing the overture and how it drops, yeas really, the bloody thing drops over the audience and swing in on stage before curtain fall of the first act. The Phantom actually disappears in a blaze of fire doing the end of "Masquerade." I kind of missed that on the DVD, but oh well, can't get every-thing can you? I shouldn't get into the Joel Schumacher movie right now.. I just shouldn't. I mean, it's decent. It actually is, but when you take one of the greatest stage plays ever made and turn it into a hollywood movie. Decent is not good enough!It should have been huge and theatrical, edgy. It's so god damn clean, the main cast aren't good enough singers, Gerard Butler.. miss cast... very much, what is up with his deformation? It doesn't make any sense, it keeps on changing place! At least make him look ugly.That movie should have been the biggest experience, building on the big and theatrical, using the tricks, being shame-less.. and it's not. It's actually.. playing it safe. And that is why it fails.It's a theatrical edgy story with grant music, and that's how it should have been treated. But it was not. DAMMIT! now I got into the movie any-how! it's just because I care! Oh yeah! Some-one else who knows of the "Scarlet Pimpernel." musical! it's actually rather unknown, but it's really good isn't it? the triumphant tune of "Into the fire." is absolutely spectacular, all though there are many other amazing tunes in it. "The riddle." for instance. I ones sang "When I think of you" at concert, prettiest song ever handed to me! (I usually don't get the pretty songs -_-;) Ever heard of "Jekyll and hyde." the musical, it's composed by Frank Wildhorn, the same composer as behind the Scarlet Pimpernel. I can't wait to get to my Bob Fosse videos now so I can introduce you to the man! What you need to know right now.. Bob Fosse, is the best musical movie director who ever lived. End of story.

The Phantom movie is okay as a movie, I suppose, but the cast just ruins it for me. I don't like any of the singers, not after hearing people who sing in musicals for a living perform. I hadn't thought about the effects aspect (I haven't had the chance to see the stage version of Phantom, unfortunately), but I can see what you mean. I suppose if I ever see it on the stage, done properly, I'll dislike watching the movie even more. ;)I love The Scarlet Pimpernel! "Into the Fire" is one of my favorite tracks, as is the "The Riddle". I find myself singing it under my breath at work quite often, hehe. I also love "Falcon in the Dive" and "Madame Guillotine"; they seem to capture the feel of the French Revolution quite well. Then there's "When I Look At You", "Where's the Girl", "The Scarlet Pimpernel", "Storybook"...dammit, there are too many good songs on that soundtrack to go into it. XD I haven't heard of the Jekyll and Hide musical, but now I'll have to check it out. :)Bob Fosse movies...I get the feeling I'm gonna have some movies to watch after you're done with those. ;)

The only casting choice in that movie which gets thumbs up from me is Minnie Driver as Carlotta, true, she didn't do her own singing, as surprise, she can't sing opera as that takes years of practise and skill, but I don't mind! cause she is so hilarious and just perfect in the rest of it! best Carlotta ever. the others.. no.. minor parts are fine I guess, but the main cast could all have been done better, which isn't very good.If you ever get the chance to watch it on stage, just do it! at least you can say you had the experience! Oh "Storybook." a song right down t my alley in singing style, and it's relatively easy to play at the piano to! just need to keep up the rhythm you know. I don't know whether Bob Fosse movies will be your style, it's nothing like Phantom of the Opera, or Less Miserable or anything like that. We are more over in "Chicago" territory, but ways better! And well, I just can't wait to talk about them.

Well, I tend to like lots of different styles of music--instead of liking particular genres, I seem to like specific things within genres, hehe. I might like the Bob Fosse movies...worth a try, at least. ;)Right now, as far as piano music, I know several different pieces from Phantom of the Opera, but I haven't gone beyond that (with music from musicals, at least...I tend to play a lot of music from movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars...I'm straying from the topic). Soon I hope to acquire the Les Mis and Wicked music books; once I'm well into learning those, I'll have to check out the Scarlet Pimpernel music book. I would love to be able to play a lot of those songs. ^_^ If nothing else, it'll give me good practice with rhythm. Haven't had a piano teacher in years due to lack of funds and time, so I need to force myself to diversify a bit, here. ;)So, I know I probably shouldn't ask this, but I'll give it a shot...have you started working on your next video yet? Just curious. I'm rather looking forward to it. ^_^

I know what you mean, film scores are so difficult to keep away from! the good ones at least. Like right now, I am working on "Caspers last wish." from the Casper movie, try and search on that theme on youtube, it's absolutely beautiful. And yeah, I stuck around with the Pirates of the Carribbean themes as well, particularly "He's a pirate." and "David Jones lullyaby." great themes. Star wars how-ever.. aside from the empiral march which is always fun, not so much.. I just go the sheet music for the opening theme of "Animaniacs!" .. which is bloody hard to play D: Right now I am in the middle of cutting together a christmas special cross-over. It will be out soonish, I think after the weekend after that I first recently figured what could be a good idea for my own quick christmas special. I mean, I had ideas! so many different ideas, but all of them to big and I just needed a little thing. I think this one will do nicely, though it has nothing to do with musicals.

Wow...you're right, that is really, really pretty music. Now I'm gonna have to go search around for that...The Imperial March is fun, but I tend to prefer Princess Leia's theme, The Throne Room, Luke and Leia, and May The Force Be With You. Pirates is more fun than all of those, though. ;) There's no feeling quite like playing the PotC theme and getting it right, hehe.A Christmas special, eh? Awesome. ^_^ I...I suppose I won't be too crushed if it's not a musical thing...OH, THE AGONY! *dramatic sobbing*Sorry, I couldn't resist. :p As I said before, can't wait for it!

I guess I am just not that much of a Star Wars fan. I just play "The inner light." from Star Trek instead :/ The Pirate of the Carribean score is so great. There's so much fun stuff in it X) We'll see, oh man I feel so torned now, one of my options were some-thing which is kind of, a musical. But I don't think I can manage to make it before Christmas eve! Maybe if I work really hard, I dunno D: We'll see! we'll get to the musicals eventually! the list over things I wish to do just happens to be so freaking long that you wouldn't believe it!

Mmm, Star Wars got me started with sci-fi, so I'll always have a special place in my heart for it, I guess. ;) But, despite the rumor that you can't like both Star Trek and Star Wars, I love them both, so I can occasionally find myself playing Star Trek stuff. :pThe Inner Light! I love playing that one! Such a beautiful piece...and it's not hard to play. It's...I dunno, there's something about it that makes it easy to keep your fingers moving to the right places at the right times, haha.I know it's not really any of my business, but I would suggest just working on whatever you're already working on instead of the musical option. Christmas is an awfully busy time of year, after all. And hey, if you get what you're working on now AND everything else you need to get done this holiday season done sooner than you expected, you can always relax for a bit instead. ;) Wicked will take care of my musical fix for a few weeks. Which is totally the most important thing, I know. ;)*cough* /sarcasm *cough* Just because tone doesn't come through in text too well. :p

Yeas it is, sorry for this but I speak Danish and don't know how to translate music language but I try. The waltz is decided by the beat in the song which goes in a three fourth note rhythm you know "one, two, three. one, two three." where as normal songs usually have four paces in each tact going "One, two three, four, one, two, three four."When it has three beats in each tact all the way through, it's usually safe to presume it's a waltz, all though I don't have the sheet music for "Mother knows best." I do have the sheet music for "Poor unfortunate souls." and can safely say it's a waltz as it has the three fourth note beat all the way through. But listening to "Mother knows best." and stomping the rhythm, it's still three beats. The pace can go up to intensify the song, which it does in "Poor unfortunate souls." but it's still three fourth notes in each tact, thus making it a waltz. Beside, there's nothing wrong with a waltz, Waltzes are freaking awesome! I can easily listen to Shostakovitch's Jazz suite Waltz nr. 2 all day! it just sounds so cool!

I kinda liked this movie (and I'm 19) but I totally understand what you mean by playing it safe, the whole thing feels very toned down, although there are some pretty cool bits to it. I adore Flynn/Eugene too;) This video reminded me that I need to watch The little mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, Lion King, Hercules (which happens to be one of my favourites) etc. again because they're just AWESOME!You're off to a good start by the way, I hope to see more of your show in the future, this one was very entertaining!(BTW, I own the same silly walking poster;))

again, I kind of want to stress that I do not hate it. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. And there's lots of good in it to.I just don't believe it's up there with the movies you just mentioned and made this review because I am so tired of all the people whom think it is. I'm fine about people loving it, I am just tired of people proclaiming it to be the new beauty and the beast or something like this, cause it's not. And it's not because it's played so safe. Hehe, that poster is a gift from a dear friend of mine. He lives in Germany so it was when I came visiting him a year ago he gave it to me in the hopes it would one day appear in my videos, which he proclaimed to one day catch on and be huge.. of cause I first got around to really get started on it recently...Thank you! To recap: a girl lives in a tower with her evil stepmother, the girl is afraid to leave by herself but fortunately a random fugitive drops in to accompany her, eventually the girl realizes she's a princess so the evil stepmother has to imprison her in the tower with shackles, the fugitive drops in again and accidentally kills the evil stepmother, the end.

Urh... yeah, okay that's.. pretty damn spot on. I mean, other stuff happens, the characters are multi dimensional, and they could easily have carried a bigger and smarter plot.. but they don't, it's very cutesy and girly..

I am one of the few really liking Hercules as well! I actually do, I know so many others don't like the loud gospel singing and the colours (admittedly, gospel which is a catholic thing is a bit weird to fusion with a movie about greek mythology, but it sounds good in my ear, I really dig that score.) "Meet the Robinsons." I'll consider one of the lesser weak movies of Disneys down era, it's weak but it's not horrible. The mere visuals of "Bowler hat guy." is fascinating to watch, I would have liked him better if he was just an all around bad guy don't.That they keep on shovelling down a theme in the viewers throat "Keep moving forward." instead of us making the conclusion ourselves, is not something I approve. It wins as a funny visually interesting movie but kind of fails in firm plot

I hope you do more Disney reviews. I live just two hours away from Disney World and it's sort of like living that far from Chernobyl. You end up sort of glowing with corporate Disneyness wheather you like it or not. You are very right that there needs to be more evil and scary characters because those are the best! I couldn't pick out Sleeping Beauty in a lineup, but when I was little I remember peeing myself when Malifacent morphed into the dragon! Really! I was only 5 at the time. Heck, I'd do it now if I had enough Jager in me!

I don't see why not, I really like Disney, other people really like Disney. It's a very popular and main stream subject. I have a lot to say about the subject. And there's lots of the movies that I love. And well, I hope people are open to the opportunity, but I had been planning to go through the Disney hour shows at some point. Such as "Darkwing Duck." "Talespin." "Phineas and Ferb." and so on.

Speaking as a Scot with happy memories of a childhood holiday in Denmark, that is a nice compliment. And I enjoyed the video - though it makes me feel very old to hear films I think of as belonging to the Disney "revival", such as "The Little Mermaid", as "classics".Isn't "Tangled" based on a book?

Yeah... I belong to "Beauty and the beast." myself, saw it so much doing my childhood, over and over. almost wore out the VHS.. god VHS, yep, internet makes you feel old. Tangled based on a Brother Grimm fairytale. Same as Snow-white and Cinderella. If you don't know what Brother Grimms fairytale are, well, back in time before we had books people told stories to each other so it went from mouth to mouth for centuries in europe. then the two german brothers grimm decided to travel around and collect all of them in a book. Which they did, and that is how we still have those stories today.
