The Fear Fan takes a look at the 2014 remake of Godzilla! Was it a titanic success, or just a colossal bore?
Kick-Ass 2 (2013)
“The bad news is Kick-Ass 2 isn’t as good as Kick-Ass. There are certain key elements of awesome from the first movie that are absent this time around, and without them there’s just no way to completely recapture the magic. The good news is that those voids have been filled by not-quite-as-awesome-but-still-pretty-awesome new stuff.”The least anticipated movies of 2015
“These are the movies that almost nobody is excited about, and that almost nobody is looking forward to seeing (though, if history is any guide, people will still turn out in droves to pay to see them anyway).”Argo (2012)
“Had the film been helmed by a more seasoned director, or even a relative unknown, it never would have taken home the big prize. Because ultimately, the most interesting thing about Argo is that Ben Affleck directed it.”Marvel’s cinematic villain problem
“When people complain about adaptations of a work, it’s because they like the things that end up getting lost in translation, and the classic superhero/supervillain dynamic is one of those things that’s gotten lost in a lot of these Marvel flicks.”Are superheroes fascist?
“Many people seem to be under the impression that modern superhero comics are fundamentally nothing more than male power fantasies about violent Übermenschen going around imposing their will on the world through force and terror.”Godzilla (2014) is everything Godzilla fans could want
“When it comes to Hollywood making a Godzilla movie, this is about the best possible outcome anyone could have hoped for.”
