This movie has the most amazing cast in the world. I don't know how I managed to miss this. You can't go wrong with Clint Howard. There's a theater here in Portland that does a thing called "Hecklevision," where they set it up so you can text snarky comments that get projected on the screen with the movie. This seems like it would be a perfect film for that treatment.

Just a nitpick: Propane tanks will not explode if you shoot them. I hate that trope. Anyway, you're dead on about the creature effects, they are AMAZING and so is this movie. Just the right kind of cheese.

Yea thank you Mythbusters !

In Hollywood even shoe polish can be used as a high explosive, but just to pile on I'll complain that without lungs (and bugs don't have lungs) and with the current atmospheric content there is no way for an insect to get anywhere near as large as depicted in this film. Also marijuana is a natural bug repellant.

Maybe Clint Howard was growing Spice. The spice extends life. The spice expands consciousness. The spice is vital to space travel, and the spice must flow.

Great now I have to go watch Dune again. (I really wish they would put out a directors cut though)

Factual? Of course not but its just movies. We'd never have any giant bug movies if they tried to keep things realistic. Hmmm...perhaps the pot smoke was what was driving them to the cabin?

I know it is one of those tropes that is used over and over but in the context of the movie, it was an incredibly stupid move. (I saw the mythbusters where they debunked this but even still, I wouldn't risk it!) Amazing to me that a 1 million dollar film from 20 years ago looks better than 100 million dollar films today.

Love how the Supertick goes up in a perfectly linear gasoline ball out the window.

I caught this by accident on tv a few years back, very watchable. Good pacing and decent performances makes even bad movies like this better than a lot of the big budget stuff extruded these days. Mosquito, also shot in the '90s, has a very similar feel and if this works for you then so should that.

Been working on Mosquito for a while. I have a friend who was one of the FX guys for it.
