I think they should stay the hell away from Scooby Doo clones like Clue Club and Goober and the Ghost Chasers. Most of them were either forgettable or horrible. As those they could do, I think Johnny Quest could be a good film if they kept it in the sixties rather than doing a modern take on it. Space Ghost would be awesome. A few years ago writer Joe Kelly penned a helluva good origin story for the character at DC Comics.

This film is an abomination to me. Back when I was, like, five, I went out as Underdog for Halloween. My Mom sewed me the coolest costume. Damn, I wonder if my Dad still has the picture…

Those could work, Johnny Quest and Space Ghost–they’re old enough to be remembered mostly fondly, and have enough adventure themes to them that they don’t need to be dumbed down family stock (e.g. Barnyard–those producers really thought kids were ignorant enough to know that bulls shouldn’t have udders?). They could sit in that sweet spot where they’re neither dark-gritty nor stupid-funny. In that light I’d also want to see a decent Herculoids or Thundarr movie, if we’re talking strictly older cartoon series. As for old cartoon-based movies I want to see by anyone *but* Disney, those could be Plasticman, HeMan/SheRa, G-Force (BOTP, not the gerbils), just about anything by Gerry Anderson or Filmation, Pirates Of Dark Water, more as they come to me…

I wanna see that costume now.

I have a friend who is a huge Dark Water fan, he feels the show just didn’t get it’s due. I think they aired, what, three episodes before pulling the plug? Seriously, if you made thirteen episodes of a cartoon series, just show the whole damn cartoon series. I think A Dark Water movie would rock.
