Snakes on a Plane (2006)
The Blockbuster Chick Episode #3
Posted Apr 2 2012 by Suzie McGinney

Essentially a 100-minute forced meme, the movie stars Samuel L. Jackson as an FBI agent protecting a key witness on a flight to L.A. to testify against the mob. To rub the guy out, the bad guys release dozens of angry snakes on his plane, which is surely the dumbest airplane-related scheme to take out a witness since Airport '79.

Dante's Peak (1997)
Good Bad Flicks Episode #1
Posted Sep 6 2011 by Cecil Trachenburg

“It’s the debut of a new show, Good Bad Flicks, where your host Cecil Trachenburg takes you through rare movies, forgotten classics, and misunderstood box office bombs! First up is Dante’s Peak, a disaster film that deserves more attention. It was released amidst a glut of disaster films in the mid ‘90s, and was unfortunately overshadowed by many of them. But almost 15 years later, the film still holds up. The effects are fantastic, and even though the story won't win any awards, the movie is a blast (in more ways than one)!”

The Horror at 37,000 Feet (1973)
The Following Special Presentation Episode #2
Posted Nov 16 2010 by Stan Ferguson

Stan watches The Horror at 37,000 Feet, a bizarre 1973 airplane disaster/horror hybrid that’s horrifying for all the wrong reasons. Filmed for roughly $500 on a soundstage at CBS Television City, the movie boasts an all-star cast including Chuck Connors, Buddy Ebsen, Paul Winfield, Russell “The Professor” Johnson, France Nuyen, and Tammy Grimes. Also onboard is William Shatner, chewing up the scenery like never before, and meeting his untimely demise in a truly memorable fashion.

“Brittany Murphy plays a renowned seismologist here, and comes off about as credible as, well, Brittany Murphy playing a renowned seismologist. Get ready for a depressing set of screencaps in this recap, because Murphy looks (and sounds) terrible throughout. I can’t tell if her total lack of energy is due to her health issues, or her just plain hating the material.”

"Not only did they take an idiotic R-rated B movie famous for its internet buzz-worthy title and make it safe for family viewing, but they also allowed one guy with a computer and a TV capture card to cause a minor sensation that swept across the globe, and ultimately inspired a bit on a late night talk show."

"Before Iron Man can... do whatever he was about to do, a cow lands on him. Because, you know, there was that one scene in Twister where a cow was flying around and... um, yeah. At this point, they might as well be making references to the Hoover Administration, '23 skidoo', or Spike Jones and His City Slickers for all this movie's target audience would know."

"Remember, students, always put your exposition at the end! Just when the audience thinks they're gonna get action and suspense, do what they least expect—surprise 'em with backstory!"
