Hit or Bomb? January 2017 movie predictions

January is upon us, which as we all know is the time of year reserved for that curious mix of Oscar bait finally going wide, obvious duds that got pushed back from summertime/holiday releases, and the rare diamond in the rough taking advantage of a total lack of competition. In other words, expect Rogue One to dominate the box office for the foreseeable future.

After Earth (2013)

“I’m not sure that’s how evolution works, though it’s disheartening to see that Shyamalan thought so much of his silly ‘plants killing humans’ premise of The Happening that he reuses it here.”

VIDEO: Unbreakable (2000)

Ursa kicks off October with Unbreakable, one of the few M. Night Shyamalan movies with a twist that makes sense. Come for the Bruce Willis, stay for Samuel L. Jackson, deconstruction of the superhero genre, and “Ohhh…how did I not see that coming?”

The M. Night Before Christmas continues! There’s something in the air as the Cinema Slob takes a look at Shyamalan’s The Happening, starring Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel as a couple on the run from vengeful, suicide-inducing plants.
