Before now, I didn’t even give this a second look. The trailer was unasuming and non-descript. Now, I realize, that was on purpose. They didn’t want to spoil the movie in any way. I can not wait to see this. Also, I like the different format.

Thank you, we’ve been trying to find a way to talk about all the films we see that we couldn’t make into full episodes.

Normally “horror” and “thinker” are mutually exclusive in film, so I was quite surprised to see someone’s still making `em together. Thanks for the tip, guys–I’m gonna check this out soon.

“Friday Night Lites!” Someone there’s channeling Grimlock.

There are actually a lot of smart horror movies, but they either don’t get the attention they deserve, or (worse yet) they are not acknowledged as horror movies. My favorite example of the latter is Black Swan.

      • Oh hell yeah. I still baffles me whenever people say Black Swan isn’t a horror flick. That’s pure horror right there.

I would like to hear the reasoning for that. I just don’t get it.

          • Don’t get why people say it isn’t a horror flick, or don’t get why I say it is?

          • Jay_Bay

The latter. Then again, I haven’t seen it, so what do I know

          • I do recommend watching it. The movie sends you through a psychological roller-coaster as you watch a poor girl’s madness and obsession with being the best destroy her both inside and out.

Or sometimes they’re a thing of the past. My favorite horror flick is actually Phantasm–that’s a classic example of what works because of ambiguity and interpretation–and characters to care about. Yeah, I never did jump on Black Swan when it came out, so that’s one more for me to keep tabs on.

I thought this was a remake of this other movie — good to know! http://www.cultureandthrills.com/catalog/product/76368

Uh no…no there’s no Burt Reynolds in Stoker.

Ooo I want a cup with a giant red spider on it.

    • Jack Shen

It’s actually an electronic candle. But I do a lot have wine glasses that have a red spider on them.

        ooooo *want*

do you have any electronic spiders with candles for heads and wine glass butts?

Hmm lately I have read pretty lukewarm reviews of this movie, more or less complaining about the story being too light with it being way too heavy on imagery and that it really isn’t saying anything and calling the script lethargic, but then again those were local reviews and the critics in those tend to be very picky and hard to please, aka snobby hipster assholes. And really you guys, your opinions I trust way more then there’s and from the footage in the review it all seems quite intriguing, plus I really love Park Chan-wook so I gotta check this out for myself and of course give my own assessment. Plus it seems that its a mixture of Chan-wook and Hitchcock, and that sounds pretty awesome. Count me in. 🙂
