VIDEO: A Spider-Man cinematic universe?

What do you do when someone else does a thing that everyone loves? Thoughtlessly copy it, of course! That’s why Sony is planning to build an entire cinematic universe around Spider-Man villains Venom and the Sinister Six.

Spider-man was: bullied boy; freak accident; revenge of the nerds–ends in patricide; great power, great responsibility; Spider-man.

Spider-man is: bullied boy; revenge of the nerds; great power, lots of sex with hot girls.

The “nobility” of the world, and especially in Marvel/DC comics, really bother me too, hence I READ “Scott Pilgrim.” Those books fulfill the promise of what Spider-man was to me when I was a kid, as oppose to what some of my former friends want him to be.

Why a teenage photographer turned married high school science teacher is a dull story to some I will not understand. Why it is a story that scares some, well those some have only my pity and contempt for the garbage they keep trying to shovel down everyone’s throats.

PS The way you described a “Sinister Six” movie makes me terrified of what would happen should DC ever “force” Nolan to make, or worse let “300” director get to make, a “Secret Six” movie staring Thomas Hardy.

It’s IMDB so it should be fine. The titles for his movies are good for a laugh 😉

Maybe it could be like the Road Runner Cartoons.

This is our fault, you know. As long as we keep giving Sony money we’ll never get a proper Marvel-produced Spider-Man film.

Yeah, Gail Simone’s Secret Six was arguably DC’s best comic before Nu52 wiped it off the map. I will be forever bitter about that.

Excellent analysis regarding Sony’s ill-thought out plans regarding these films, by the way.

    • I haven’t been all that impressed by DC with their “New 52” myself…
