VIDEO: Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)

We’re sorry...

This video is no longer available due to the shutdown of Blip.tv.

It’s the debut of Movie Madhouse, the series-within-the-series formerly known as Anarchy at the Movies. After a long hiatus, Joshua returns with a review of the current release Resident Evil: Retribution, the fifth in the shlocky but enjoyable zombie apocalypse series directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and starring his wife Milla Jovovich. This time, evil goes global! …Or not.

  • I’ve always avoided these movies because I was never a big fan of the source material, I may give the sequels a chance now…I remember watcihng glimpses of the sequel and not liking it that much tho…

I saw this movie personally. It was as I expected it to be, nothing more. Of course, it would probably still do good numbers and make more sequels (of which I’ll find myself watching). Strange thing is, the movies have better plots than the games do…

    •  Wow, that is truly scary. (the movies having better plots part, I mean.)

I’ve found at the second you accept these are Resident Evil adaptations in name only, they hold up better. Except for the second one, which is pure shit regardless.

    •  The second one may be shit, but too it’s credit it held my attention for it’s entire running time, which is more than I can say for the first one.

Also, I don’t think it’s as a director that Anderson fails, but as a writer. If he’d give up on writing his own scripts, his films would be a lot better. Case-in-point, The Event Horizon.
