VIDEO: Reservoir Dogs: The Game

The video game adaptation of Quentin Tarantino’s debut film… is one of “those” games. It sucks (goddamn, does it suck), but Roland just can’t help but like it.

It’s not random that Madsen is the only one of the main guys from the movie in the game. He’s the only actor who needed the money bad enough and whose fee for doing it was low enough. Look at his IMDB resume.

    • Madsen seems like a genuinely cool dude. Maybe for the money, but I feel like he might have done it a bit for the love.

Movie games are by default not very good. It’s more about the cash-in than the game itself. Sometimes you get a Goldeneye or an Escape from Butcher Bay,,,but not often. Far as Tarantino properties go, I think Inglourious Basterds or Django Unchained could work as video games. Basterds I could see being a kind of WWII-based Rainbow Six-meets-GTA type of game (perhaps with an unlockable mode where you can play the game as Hans Lanza and get a different ending) and Django could definitely work really well as a Red Dead Redemption clone. If ANY Tarantino film was made to have a kickass game adaptation though, it would have to be Kill Bill. Like Max Payne with a katana.

    • The BEST Inglorious Basterds game ever made was The Outfit. It was an early (or launch?) title for the 360 and had some pretty sweet action and strategy-lite elements. Loved that game.

Totally. Except you’d go around killing Nazis with a baseball bat. The Kill Bill game could have Pai Mei as the Tutorial instructor and he can yell and insult you in Chinese while showing you how the sword mechanics work.

Hey, Earthsiege 2! That was a really great game, even if the flying HERC was stupidly overpowered. Stick two plasma cannons on it and giggle as you destroy EVERYTHING. Sure, you wouldn’t get any scrap, but when you’re an immortal deity who strides the earth with the very lightning of the gods at your beck and call, who needs salvage?

I hope Blitz games turns Sugar & Spice into a Video game!! They could use bits of reservoir dogs to pad out that game too!!
