VIDEO: Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon “Act 34”

We’re sorry...

This video is no longer available due to the shutdown of Blip.tv.

We wrap up last episode’s turmoil as Ami and Rei run away from home. Also, there’s a flower monster! …I think.

Lol, I was just thinking “this one looks like a SMT monster” then you told them to grind a few levels, your timing is impeccable.

For some reason I just noticed what a balloon fetishist the set designer is. That pillar of pink, white, and blue balloons with a star on top is something else! Then when they start experimenting with outfits even more balloons start appearing all over the place…

Good point on the two girls discussing serious stuff in a mature way.

  • It’s nice to see the girls experiment with their phones even if the nature of the show prevents them from exploring the Power Perversion Potential of said phones.

    • Magdalen

Indeed. I would probably be running around changing all the men’s clothes into something nicer. All girls prettier than me would automatically be wearing bear suits.

If such technology existed, the fashion industry would be brought to its knees. Or else that technology would in itself *be* the whole fashion industry.

        • JD

not only that it would be awesome.
          imagine the time savings!

          • It would also eliminate the need for washing machines and dryers.

    • Jay_Bay

      Power Perversion Potential, oh my.

    • JD

he must not have seen Ami’s breakaway dress a few episodes ago

  • Jay_Bay

THOUGHT TIME! (nothing too witty, I’m late)

But, it’s PGSM. The ridiculous levels are over 9000……bah
Now they have instant telepathy? Since whe….oh look, the Negaverse.
But, that is Beryl’s whole deal. Being possessive, right?
Man, who knew this show would pass the Beschel (spelling wrong, I’m sure) test time and time again. Shows like Winx could learn much from PGSM.
Man, that’s a lot of Debbie Downer moments in this episode. Geez. Got my hankie at the standby……DON’T JUDGE ME.
Oh look, a nun costume equipped with a katana. Just how many times does the nun with a sword happened in media in general. Very often, it seems.
Oh look, the posey monster returns. Hooray -massive sarcasm levels-
…or a big furry pillow fight might bring more trauma.

And on that note, I’m off. Laters taters….mmmmm, taters.

  • JD

Yea A bonding episode, with Pillow fights in animal costumes.
what more could you ask for?

  • JD

Ami’s mom seems very understanding. And knows her daughter well to find her at the same carrousel were she turned into Darkury

    • TiakerAvelonna

I like the irony in that. Or coincidence. Or whatever you want to call it.

      • JD

Well in the show Ami’s mom finds a picture of her at that carousel when she was very young.
i think it would have been a better scene if they had both been surprised to see the other one there.

        • TiakerAvelonna

True, even though she does say “Mama found you,” which implies she was looking for Ami. I think Ami just wandered there to think. And watch the horsies.

  • TiakerAvelonna

DAMMIT WOMAN. I had gotten away with NEVER seeing Nyan Cat! You wound me, madam. 🙁

I really liked this episode too, but I don’t remember crying. Episode 47? THAT one I cried on.

    • JD

Iv never seen Nyan cat either. now i have to have my eyes scraped .

      • TiakerAvelonna

        I’ll join you.

        • Jay_Bay

I tested my tolerance level for Nyan Cat…..did almost 2 hours. Then again, I was drunk when I did it, so it was probably 5 mins.

          • JD

5 minutes is 10 minutes too long

    • Magdalen

How can you not love it’s majesty and grace? I had a Nyan Cat messenger bag! Give in to the internet, Robin…

      • TiakerAvelonna

Trust me, I’m meme-aware. But there are some things I’m proud to say I’ve never seen. Nyan Cat was one. “Friday” is another. Sadly, I have to cross “Call Me Maybe” off of the list too.

That’s something really rare today: a show centered around kids (especially superhero kids) who actually behave like kids. Okay, I’m using the word “kids” in a broad sense–they’re really junior high age–but what I mean is they can behave with the dressing up and pillow fights and other innocent activities consistent with their age and know that life isn’t always about wallowing in pity or self-pity (even if and when it’s appropriate) or staying at the ready to save the world.

Lots of heart in this ep. I love heart.

That Youma fight seemed kinda rushed. Are the Scouts getting complacent already? “Ho-hum, another Youma…let’s toast it and go have some cake.”

    • JD

they all had finally figured out they need to cooperate in battle.then do karaoke and have cakes

      • The_Stig

Why would they have cake? It’s not Christmas.

        • JD

Why do they do Karaoke and never once do a Journey song?
the questions never end with this show.

          • The_Stig

*gives you a scarf* Here, have a muffler. I didn’t pay a lot for it.

          • TiakerAvelonna

Did you make it in home ec?

          • JD

            HA !

          • TiakerAvelonna

You knew I had to go there. I think we’d enjoy hanging out. 😉

          • JD

Maybe but me liking PGSM is my dark little secret

          • TiakerAvelonna

Sure, but I’d just babble on like the otaku I am and no one would know. 😉

          • JD

            every one would know

          • TiakerAvelonna

            Fiiiiine. 😛

NOTE: This was not an actual attempt to hook up. Just in case you were worried. >.>

          • JD

            Dang 🙂
            its all good.

          • JD

very nice, a scarf will be very useful, in Texas, In August
            🙂

  • The_Stig

Aww, Rei’s dad. “As I hung up the phone, it occured to me. The girl was just like me. The girl was just like meeeeeee.”

    • JD

I thought that too when she walked away.

      • The_Stig

You get extra cool points for recognizing Harry Chapin.

  • Jason Withrow

Makoto, if you and Usagi came up with the same plan, you have to please step back and keep in mind that it’s the sort of plan that Usagi would come up with and should probably be treated with a long stick.

Holy shit it’s a text message in a text message program. Do you see that, Hollywood? You don’t have to use large-font MS Paint!

So Jupiter gets plant powers and electric powers? I think I’m missing another cultural association on this one (and may be forgetting a previous episode besides). Can anyone fill me in?

I love how Usagi leads the others in a cheer and Makoto just… half-jumps. I wonder if that was an ad-lib or scripted, because it’s hard to stay true-to-character in the detail work either way.

Looking forward to seeing Zoicite and Minako chat. There’s nothing quite like seeing characters that have been holding things together discussing direction – even if it’s not necessarily the same direction. Especially when.

    • TiakerAvelonna

See? I told you it would wrap up nicely. 🙂

The kanji for Jupiter is associated with trees. No, I don’t know how. Her full name is also a pun on the phrase “faithfulness of wood.” On the other hand, Jupiter is the Roman name for the god Zeus, known for lightning and thunder.

    • JD

In Japanese, the name for the planet Jupiter is Mokusei (木星?),
the first kanji meaning ‘tree’ and the second indicating a celestial
object. Although the Roman planet-name is used, Sailor Jupiter’s
dominant element is wood[17] due to this aspect of Japanese mythology.[18] Unusually, most of her attacks are based on her secondary power, lightning, which is in reference to the Roman god Jupiter.
