Welcome to the Agony Booth!

The Agony Booth is an ongoing inquisition into some of the worst movies humanity has to offer, and is not for the weak of spirit or the easily disheartened. However, if you think you have the fortitude to completely immerse yourself in a truly awful film, withstanding in-depth commentary and analysis, then the Agony Booth is the place for you. As Mirror Spock would say, you may just find it to be a most effective means of discipline.

Movie Review: The NeverEnding Story (1984)

"Why does there always have to be a 'chosen one'? Why is there always some insanely powerful trinket that can do pretty much anything the wearer wants? Why are fantasy lands always ruled by a single person? And why is that person always either a tyrant—with an army of dark-colored creatures that can't talk—or completely benevolent, causing rainbows and unicorns to appear by his or her mere presence?

"If you're looking for answers to these questions, or at least a fresh take on the old fantasy clichés, this is not the movie for you."

Movie Review: The Number 23 (2007)

"Even if you accept that the 23 thing is completely real (in this movie's universe, at least)... well, so what? And what then? The movie never comes up with a compelling answer. It tries to suggest something about the number 23 driving people insane, but it never makes any sense, because Schumacher is too damn busy being flashy to connect all the dots."

Mike Nelson's Movie Megacheese

By Michael J. Nelson

Amazon Customer Review by John DiBello: "Now why would a guy whose previous job consisted of watching really, really bad movies and making humorous comments on them take on a second job... consisting of watching really, really bad movies and making humorous comments on them? Well, a much bigger budget, for one. Not necessarily for Mike (although if I had my way I'd personally hand him one fresh crisp dollar bill for each and every time I snorted or guffawed out loud reading this book on the subway). I mean bigger budgets for the movies he's reviewing/skewering." New: $4.95! Used: $1.09!
