Jump scare! Phil Buni’s March Medical Madness continues with this very meta sequel, where a group of film students break into a mental hospital to investigate whether the events of the first film actually happened. Because we all know how well Blair Witch 2 turned out!

It seems like found footage movies are just excuses for low budgets and bad camera work.

Well, the genre does have a legit pedigree, dating back to the Italian Neo-Realist movement AND Giallo/Cannibal films of the 70’s and early 80’s…

I think he’s being serious, though I can see the points both of you are making and agree with you the genre’s littered with crap nowadays. I don’t remember Italian Neo Realist “found footage” films (other than maybe “Battle of Algiers”), though I do remember Italian cannibal and “mondo” movies that purported to be real footage.

Well, Neo-Realist films may not have been passed off as documentary footage per se, but that certainly was the aesthetic they were going for…

Kinda funny mocking the movie for being “SO META” after your review of “Cabin in the Woods.”
