I've been wanting to recap some shoddy childrens' films for a while ever since being forced to sit through animated (and one live action film) dreck at the will of my three kid sisters. If I had the time in between writing my book, maybe I'll churn out something.

If I did do recaps I'd probably do:
1. Carebears 2: A New Generation (1986)
While watching this, I wasn't sure whether to fall over and die or laugh. A cartoon with nothing but cringe worthy moments held together by cheap animation and ridiculous voice acting.

2. Titanic: The Legend Lives On
I have never seen this film but its bad reputation precedes it. I'd be willing to watch this when I'm in a masochistic mood or something.

3. Igor (2008)
It's not an awful film by any means but it's just so mediorce and...bland. With plasticky animation. The Louie Prima soundtrack is nice though, this was probably the first film featuring "Big as a House"
"Tell me. Tell me! Dragon. Do you eat little boys? Puppy dock tails and BEEG... FAT... SNAILS??"

Good god, this topic has dragged on for over a year.

I think out of the hundreds of recaps promised in this topic, only about 8 of them have "actually" been written, and 6 of those 8 were Wily Badger's Doctor Who recaps.

I'm starting to think this thread really should be locked, but in this case it would be less of a lock and more of a mercy killing.

Will yours ever make it to the front page, you think, TK?

It'd be awesome if that happened, but I think everyone's pretty serious about the "no outside submissions" rule now. I should have done this three years earlier. ;)

Still, if anyone's interested, I'd be happy to make edits. :)

I'm always on the lookout for new writers, but I'm definitely not considering anyone who's only written one recap. Experience has shown that most people who write one recap never write another one. And if there's one thing lamer than the people who announce they're "actually" going to write something they never write, it's people who make a big deal about wanting to write for a website, come up with one article, and then quit. This is all IMHO, of course.

You know... I think I actually believe this more than most of the posts in this topic.

Fair enough. I didn't know "more than one" was a requirement. Although I wasn't making a "big deal" about writing for the Agony Booth. I did it for fun in the end. If you were interested, cool.

Hmm, in that case I guess, what, I would have to... uh...

Post like three or four recaps of generally decent quality? Eh, not like I have anything better to do with my time. Hell, I still have my notes from my LXG recap attempt, I might as well give that one another go.

Basically, if you can write to a fairly high standard and do it consistently, then you can have an official recap on the Agony Booth. Simple, and it doesn't need some hard-and-fast rules to be argued over. Now go write.

Every generation comes up with its own stories, but ours seems content to slap new coats of paint on the old ones so that it can keep telling them again and again. I'd much rather boldly go where no one has gone before.

Why not, if recapping is something you really want to do? If three or four recaps sounds like too much work, then maybe it's not where your true interest lies, and maybe there's some other type of writing that you would enjoy more.

Nah, doesn't sound like too much. Hell, I might as well get started as soon as I get home (on vacation right now, don't have my DVDs). Already got some movies in mind, even.

Whattayaknow, I did the same thing! The main reason why I didn't announce it was because I didn't know if I would finish it until it was done and I didn't want to announce it and end up not actually doing it.
