to be fair when I first saw Thor dawn his armor in the first Thor movie it was pretty unmistakably a magical girl transformation sequence and I think Thor is popular with girls so it’s not such a stretch for them to make a female Thor. it won’t stick though, best guess is they keep her around in the same vein as super girl. though a female version of a character becoming more popular than the original male counterpart has happened before so it could happen again.

    • Thomas Stockel

When did a female version of a male hero become more popular? Not trying to start s#!t with you or anything; it’s just that nothing is coming to mind. Then again, the fact that I’m typing this at 4:30 in the morning might be contributing to that…

      • CaptainCalvinCat

That depends on the reader, Thomas. In the new 52, I prefer Supergirl to Superman, I think She-Hulk is Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cooler than Hulk (being able to talk, wisecrack and feeling good about herself makes her more intersting than mopey Bruce and Hulk having the IQ of whitebread) and I generally prefer Batgirl (no matter what Batgirl) to Batman.

        • Jay_Bay

That last part….I just don’t get. Then again, I think everything in the Batverse is great, so what the fuck do I know about good stories lol.

          • CaptainCalvinCat

Might’ve something to do with the fact, that I prefer my Superheroines and -heroes as the wisecracking bunch. the mopey variety is not that interesting for me.

          • Jay_Bay

thats true. I love me some Freakazoid. You guys remember that guy?

        • E.Buzz Miller

Ok, but the question really is are any of those ever going to overtake the sales of the male character from which they were an offshoot?
She-Hulk’s been cancelled twice in her own title before, so that’s not a good example, same with Supergirl never really branching off from Superman and that’s never EVER going to happen with Batgirl either.
Not a knock on those three characters, but the ones who they sprung from are just such iconic longterm legacy characters.

      • Hitchmeister

I wouldn’t say more popular. But Monica Rambeau had a pretty good run as Captain Marvel. Jennifer Walters has done a great job of establishing herself as as an interesting character independent of her cousin. And despite having one of the most famous deaths in comics history, there seem to be nothing DC comics can do to prevent multiple Kara Zor-Els flying around at any given time.

        ms marvel.

        • Magdalen

          I <3 her so much. :3

  • JD

    Hey they Killed Archie too.

and you will buy those rings right?

    • Magdalen

If I had a rediculous amount of disposable income, yes. I would.

      • JD

        not even just one?

        • Magdalen

I’m from Oregon, more explanation of that in a upcoming video. 😉

    • The_Stig

They only killed Archie in Life With Archie, which is basically the “What If?” of Archie comics.

  • Jay_Bay

Oh man, Fake Geek Girl ep 1 already on the docket? Better get in on this…

I use random historical figures as expletives all the time, just last week, I told someone “What in all the David Dukes are you doing with that salami”….context
Oh Nycea, you are such a child. Consentacles *gigglesnort*
$111? Ok everyone, we better pass the collection plate around so we can get Nycea one of them Crystal rings.
I said this earlier, but it’s not a female Thor. Mjolnir just went to a new female host. Thor will still be around. Besides, a certain Ms became a Captain and that is doing wonders for Carol. So who knows how this one is gonna roll. Though, they have a few characters already in the Marvel universe that could fit the role and it wouldn’t be critique so hard.

Got a feeling this show is gonna swell pretty good. All the best!

    • Thomas Stockel

Hmmmm, that’s a good point regarding…What are we calling her? Clone Thor became “Clor”, do we call her “Feor”? “Wor”?

Anyway, what will become of Thor while he’s been replaced? Does Aaron have plans for him, or will he be sidelined for a year while “Chor” metaphorically emasculates him by taking both his hammer and his title?

      • CaptainCalvinCat

Well I’d call her either She-Thor or “Thora” – and I have no qualms with the idea in and on itself. As long as they tell interesting stories.

Of course they could’ve taken Sif and gave her a complete series treatment (written by Gail Simone) – if they didn’t do that already – could’ve used Freya, Idun, Eastre, Urd, Skuld, Nornen or Hel – but let me ask you a question: Do you know the northern goddess “Eastre”? Or “Idun”? Without going to Wikipedia?

Now imagine, they would do a comic called “Eastre”… people would think, that Marvel is now unable to write “Easter” correctly.

Like I said: As long as they tell interesting stories,Thors Hammer choosing a new host, is completely o.k. with me. And concerning, what becomes of Thor – well, the simplest solution would be, that he would be dying in a long and epic battle against some of his foes and therefore the Hammer needs to find a new host.

And hence it is Thor: You can bring him back later.

        • Thomas Stockel

Oh I understand the logic behind it, I just hate the gimmick aspect to it, that’s all. Bucky became Captain America a while back and Steve died, but it wasn’t long at all before the status quo was asserted. I think Steve was dead, what, a year? I know Johnny Storm was dead for only that long. No one believes this is going to be a permanent or even long lasting change. Frankly I am shocked Superior Spider Man lasted as long as it did.

I just hope we get a good super heroine out of this, like when Rhodey became War Machine in the wake of his time as Iron Man.

By the way, “Thora” is a pretty decent name.

          • CaptainCalvinCat

thank you. ^^ It was either that or She-thor…. ^^

Although I have to say: An “Eastre”-Comic-book could be as equally interesting.
I mean – we already had an “Athena”-Comic and…. https://www.google.de/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Linkara+Athena that did not turn out that good. ^^

          • Muthsarah

It’s also a not-unusual name. Surely, we haven’t forgotten about Thora Birch? Well, maybe we have. Kinda dropped off the Earth, that one.

  • Wizkamridr

A female thor is just lazy. I hope it fails like the peter parker clone. I think I’m the only person that has never played LOL. I only play console games.
At first I thought this video was going to be about annoying female cosplayers who really aren’t nerds/geeks.

    • Magdalen

Nope, the title is more of a jab at the nerds who obsess over the “nerd cred” of women they perceive to not be real nerds/geeks.

  • Trurl

    Am I a fake geek girl? ‘Cause I’m a guy. #confused

    • Jay_Bay

“Fake Geek Girl” is just a title. As she said when I ask this question, “We welcome all gentials”….I think that was what she said

      • Magdalen

JAY. Accept Trurl’s genitals immediately! This will never be taken out of context.

        • Jay_Bay

wait, what? I am accepting…..wait, why am I talking about genitals?
