VIDEO: Enter the Matrix

It’s the Agony Booth’s very first video game review! In the Examined Life (of Gaming), your host Roland Thompson dares to delve into the good, the bad, and the value-priced games of the ’90s and ’00s. First up, he walks through the PC version of Enter the Matrix, a game released on the same day as Matrix Reloaded, featuring over an hour of original footage (starring Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe and Anthony Wong as Ghost) directed by the Wachowski Br–er, the Wachowskis.

Note: This review was originally posted in two parts. Part 2 begins immediately after the interstitial title.

    Great debut.

Nice review, former Attorney General Janet Reno. 🙂 But I kid.

EtM wasn’t great, but it wsan’t bad. I had so many nicknames for this game. Enter the Hallway, Enter the Glitch, Enter the Crappy AI, etc. Though I disagree about playing as Neo. Path of Neo has its problems (like that ending, ugh), but I thought the game was quite good and in particular liked how you could customize Neo to fit your particular style of gameplay. I’d love to see a follow-up review to this where you do PoN.

    • Ugh. I bought PoN for $15 a year or so after it came out and HATED it. I went through the first part (including the not-terrible ripoff of Hard-Boiled), but quit after the rooftop helicopter battle. You’re supposed to be protecting Trinity; right as I about to finish it, SHE WALKED OFF THE ROOFTOP HERSELF AND MADE ME FAIL THE LEVEL. I quit the game in disgust and never fired it up again.

Like I said….Path of Neo wasn’t without its problems.

Great to see you on The Agony Booth Roland! Keep it up!

Ah, I remember this game. Admittedly, not much about it. But I remember playing as Niobe because…driving vs. shooting? Easy choice.

I loved to play the game… I preferred playing as Niobe, too, but the Ghost-Parts were not uninteresting, either. ^^

Yeaaaah. That didn’t happen. Anyway, a very thorough review. And a good deconstruction of a really dull game. I knew there was a reason I quit after three levels.

  • Oooo, a video game review part of the Agony Booth…I highly approve. :p Very good first episode! I look forward to more. 🙂
