In this episode of The DVD Shelf Foreign Flix, France proves that it can pull off high-stakes action with the Luc Besson-produced 2004 thriller, District B13 which pits a streetwise punk and an undercover cop against a dangerous mob within the gated-off ghettos of Paris. Starring French actor and stuntman David Belle, District B13 utilized the popular fighting discipline parkour, of which Belle is credited as one of its founders, for many of its action scenes. Also discussed is the film’s 2009 sequel, District 13: Ultimatum, and its 2014 remake, Brick Mansions, which stars Belle and the late Paul Walker in his final completed film.
