Well, slash-fanfic is not my cup of tea. But, in general, AS a Fanfic-Author, I have noticed something.
If those “geniuses” have anything in common with the rest of us fanfic-authors, they have ideas, sure, but the question is, “is it good enough”? After all, this is just one singular opinion.
If I would be like one of those persons and one would come to me and say “Write a book, you can do that”… I’d have problems.

And if this authors thought processes are nearly the same as mine – s/he would not know WHAT to write for a living. Next question: Even if s/he would write a masterpiece, it still is just ONE book she has written. Then she has to work harder to one-up-herself, to make a better second novel. And the third must be better than the second, while the fourth must be top everything, just to be topped by the fifth one.
And there are just so many twitsts and turns you can write without writing something, that has been done to death.

    For example:
    Take YA-Authors.
There is only so much young-adult-romancy-stuff you can tell.
Boy meets girl, boy falls in love, there are comlications, they are overcome, done.
I mean, once I had the idea, to write a “male-version of twilight”… where the boy falls for a vampire-girl… but – I have no idea what to essentially DO with that story. ^^
