So I actually just saw this a few days ago and it was definitely interesting. It felt like somebody mixed up Grave Encounters with The Librarian, maybe a titch of yellowbrickroad, and plotted the whole thing like a survival horror video game. Did you think anything like that? I was surprised by how randomly that piano thing came up…only a few odd incidents then suddenly they round the corner and poof, but it did fit the character and his particular hangup. Either way, way better movie than some of the other theatrically released found footage this year (Devil’s Due…just, no…). Good to hear it’s tracking well with other horror fans, since it is a pretty decent movie.

I’ll admit, I rolled my eyes a little when they brought up the Philosopher’s Stone, but for what it was, they made it work.

do they call it the Sorcerer’s Stone in the US print? 😛

No, that would just be silly.

I think they’re good for the business side of the film industry: if consistently generating huge profits from micro-budgeted films finally convinces somebody that not every movie needs to have an impossibly-bloated budget that will never earn its money back, then in the long-run Hollywood will still have a chance. ^_^
